At last, pics of my latest project, 1973 AMC Javelin SST, 5L V8 304 auto. runs and drives, all it really needs is a good resto on the body. (not a prob as its my profession.) will respray in black, slam it to the ground with some nice big alloys and wide low profile tyres, a black retrim and cool thumpin' sound system.

i need info on where to obtain new/used, standard/modified parts from and who'll ship and accept orders from the little ****hole of great britain.

any info greatly apprihiated. i have checked out websites, but no-ones returned my mails so i'm at a blank. enjoy the pics and don't laugh, its not that bad really!

and heres a sketch of how it would look finished, except in black with chrome bumpers, chrome window surrounds and chrome along the front, indicaters hidden behind a mesh grill, amx front and rear spoilers, lowered on 8x16 supremes with BFGoodrich tyres, possibly 245/50/16 (not too sure on wheel and tyre sizes, i need help on this subject) a twin exhaust system with 4 inch tailpipes, possibly with a flamer kit as i probably won't be able to afford a supercharger and nos:(

Despite the 'appearance' of it, after analyzing it, I can see that it isn't that bad from what I can see.
1) There appear to be no real holes in the body, just surface rust. (But I can't see the undercarriage)
2) Body appears fairly straight
3) All trim needs replacing, and everything needs chroms, paint, accessories (like a trunk lock).
4) Interior is all there, if a little dirty.
5) Engine needs accessories, how's the compression, btw?

I could see this getting very nice. My neighbor has a 68 cougar, and when he got it, it was ROT! $19000 Canadian later, it is worth 20 grand.

So, I hope you have fun restoring it over the next little (er, long) while:)

i haven't show you the worst pics yet!! although it appears to be solid, there are places where if i'm not carefull i can poke my finger through, and places where there's nothing there!! both doorshuts (quarter panels, i think its called the 'c' post)

friends say i should break it up for spares, but this seems to be the only one in the UK so who's gonna buy the bits. so its a rare motor and worth fixing up.:)

my only prob is getting the spares and stuff i need for it:(

i got the carb off, giving it a rebuild. its all there, it runs and drives, abielt 4 different wheels and sizes!! need a decent set of rims and a lowering job!!:D

There would be plenty of parts in the states. Try jegs (http://www.jegs.com) , wrenchhead (http://www.wrenchhead.com) , and a few others. OR try National Parts Depot.

Just to let you know that yours isnt the only Javelin around. There were two of them at the Guildford cruise and I have an AMX Javelin 1972 560cu engine.Depending on what you require spares are not that hard to get hold of.:frog:

Don't forget that your 924 isn't the only one around! Go to www.924board.org if you haven't already :)

Yeah, I love the old Javelins and AMXs...

I say an AMX recently, it looked pretty decent. The guy had bought it new in high school, and kept it in mint condition. It is way more original than a mustang or Camaro, (which aren't bad: there are just more of them)

There's a black AMX in my town, it's the last body style. The owner took off all the badging, trim, and chrome, and painted it all black. I couldn't figure out wha the hell it was!

Any car from the 1980's with a famous name is a little unsettling, so say the least. A real AMX has a 360 and nothing even resembling emissions controls.

Aha, so true! Oh, how I long for the days when there were no emissions restrictions...

I think all the ULEV will be pretty cool, they can actually clean the air in places like Mexico City! Pretty cool, huh?

Yeah, ULEV's in dirty places are neat. And the coating on some new Rads reduces ground-level ozone, also a good idea. They are also coating the sidewalks in london with a cheap glaze that dissociated nitrogen oxides into harmless gases.

All so I can run a 6.6 liter pig of a V8! Thank you enviromentally friendly people!

Actually, I'm trying to figure out what sort of emissions this thing will be making, once it's on propane... I need to find out how clean burning propane is... we can cook with it, it must be pretty clean!

Chris

Well, propane is C3H8. Id does have some impurities, like all gas, though. And it smells really bad, in my experience. But it is much cleaner than gas is. Morgans in the US ran off propane for awhile to make emissions legal.

In that case, it probably has lower HC and CO emissions than gas... it's all falling into place.

One line of products I am designing is a LPG/hydrogen conversion kit for EFI cars. I also want to design a standalone system, but I don't have the developement capital right now.

My 400M is my testbed, and right now I'm working on putting it in an RX7. Pretty cool, huh?

hey mental mickey can you import a 69 javelin that doesnt have a title the man bought it 10 years ago it would make a good parts car all it needs is a drivers door window and a new vinyl top it is supposed to have a 401 motor with a automatic
i also know where other american cars are that arent too exspensive

I could not get your pics. but i did own a 72 sst with the same 304 you have. Its a smaller version of the chyrsler 318 so the same tricks apply. Have the the heads done and you will be real happy. Get some headers.
I found this info out after I got rid of the car.
At the same time my best friend had a 71 AMX, 401 4 speed with the "GO PACKAGE". functional hood scoop, 3.91 rear gears and factory rated at 390 horses. The only noticable difference was the hood scoop and 3 inches behind the drivers door also 300lbs of weight. surprising with the bigger motor. My javlen was canary yellow, his AMX was charcol grey metalic, Beutiful paint and we named it "Midnite Lady". He traded her for a 66 dodge charger. End of story

i would look at AMO association website.
supposedly the 304 carried over to jeep when AMC went down. tell me how your motor is coming along.
