Problem with 99 GT, Have code

My wife has been having trouble with her 99 GT Grand AM. Sometimes it is hard to start, but if you touch the gas it will. I drove it and had the service engine soon light come on. I checked the codes and got this one, P0101 B MAF System Performance. Anyone have any idea what is going on with her car?

There is a problem with the mass air flow sensor. It could be dirty or could have gone bad. I am assuming that this is a V6 since you have a GT. The sensor may be dirty and can be cleaned using a can of electronics cleaner. Spray the wires with the cleaner and allow it to dry completely before reinstallation. Do not touch the wires. If you don't feel comfortable doing this take it to a mechanic and have it cleaned or replaced. Of course you can replace it yourself if you wish.
