Stop hating, your acting like a child to someone that posted a legitimate question.

so you can't shift unless you pull out in second? Could be synchronizers. probably would need a new trans.

This happened to me also with my 1995 Accent. I found that right after it shifted, if it was in low revs, it dragged along or wouldn't shift at all. I had the fuel injectors cleaned, and also found out that Accents can only use Champion or NGK spark plugs, and factory wires. Most of the reason mine wasn't shifting right was because the spark plugs were arching. And after I got the fuel injectors cleaned also, it added some horsepower and got better gas mileage. (Accents are slow as hell :shakehead ) I don't know if this is the problem with your car, maybe get it checked out?

Ok I have a good question I have a 99 Accent and I get power surges through-out the whole car. I have brought it to the dealer and they told me that they thought that it was the voltage regulator in the alternater but it wasn't. They now tell me that they have no clue what is wrong.
I have read a couple of reviews on this year and model of car and they mention similar problems like dash lights burning out, power surges, head lights and tail lights needing to be changed about 7 times or more a month, stuff like that.
I have looked on the net and have not been able to find a fix to this expensive problem.
So do any of you have any suggestions?

hey wolf, my 99 accent is having these power surges. I hooked my volt meter up and have it sitting on the dash. WHen I am driving the surges will occur. The radio cuts off (acts like a circuit breaker) when the surge occurs.
The car also loses power during these surges.
normal voltage runs about 14.3-14.6, then the surge reads 18+.

Welcome to the forum,
now I must advise you that bringin up old threads over 3 months old is not advisable. Just start another thread and post your question.
As for your problem, the more info you give us the better to diagnose the problem.
Does the lights turn on when you turn on the lights. Are the correct bulbs being used. Did you recently do any modification to the electrical system.
It could be you have a short.

as for the difficulty engageing gears check the fluid in the clutch master cylinder if its shity flush it out simple to do get an 8mm spanner lossen the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder that sits on top of the gear box its got a rod coming out of it that pushes an arm that sticks out the gear box. any way remove the nipple as the fluid drains top it up this will take you about an hour to do once it runs clear put the nipple back in nip tight. then press the pedal a few times then wedge it with a plank of wood between the drivers seat and the pedal so the pedal is depressed fully then undo the nipple till fluid sqerts out then nip tight then release peddal press a couple of times to regain pressure repeat this a couple of times keeping fluid topped up this should sort your problem. and as for the power surge its a shagged alternator just replace it simple.

For the power surging problem, go to hmaservice.com and create a user login if you haven't already done so. You will find a TSB under the restraint section outlining the problem. As said earlier it is a problem with the voltage regulator (internal) thus the alternator needs to be replaced. If it doesn't fix the problem then you probably got a faulty new alternator. This is basically the only significant TSB for the 99 Accent.
