Lovely Aston - where are you?

I just love Aston but I'm sad because I can't have her :evillol:
My problem is that I can't seem to find any Aston Martin kits apart form the Doyusha and Airfix DB5s.
Is there a register anywhere on the web of AM kits available in 1/24 similar to the great Ferrari listings on Italian Horses?
Maybe you guys could add to this post any kits that you are aware of? It can be any kind of Aston and I'd be really grateful.
"Maker / AM model / scale / curbside vs engine / your opinion" format would be great.
Hopefully (and broken heartedly) yours!

That's probably because the number of Aston Martin kits is miniscule compared to Ferraris. Gorgeous cars, but they don't get done in 1/24 for whatever reason. The only thing remotely modern in 1/24 was a pair of DB7's (HT and CV) done in diecast by Guiloy...not exactly up to Welly's modern diecast standards and they're not easy to find...I had to get one from Europe via Ebay. Sadly the only thing out there are "James Bond" era Aston Martins and a few resin transkits for them. Unless you like 1/43 or 1/18 scale stuff.

Yeah we need some Aston Martin kits, both older and modern. God knows the market for Ferraris must have reached saturation point and it is time for some variety.

An Aston or Jag or Maseratti or almost anything modern from all the european marques would be sweet. Heck, BMW, Porsche, Lotus ...

Well, not 1/24-25 but Matchbox made an Ulster in 1/32 scale that was rather nice. Turned mine in to a slot car sometime in the dark ages. It had nice detail with engine and drivetrain.
I also would like to see some bigger Astons on my shelf.

Monogram made a DB4 in 1:25. Very nice engine detail and doors can be opened. Wire wheels are less good and should be changed.
Donīt know how the fitting of the parts is, havenīt started it yet.
Airfix made a DB6 kit in 1:25 long ago. Iīve only seen one on ebay UK till now and missed the auction. :banghead:

Hi,
sorry for the late answer, but I've seen this discussion today for the first time. So here's my knowledhe about Aston-Martin kits:
Matchbox:
1932 Aston Martin Ulster - Scale 1/32 - Full detail with opening hood and trunk
Airfix:
Aston Martin DB5 - Scale 1/32 - Curbside - often reissued - easy to find
Aston Martin DB6 - Scale 1/32 (Pictured in 1976 Catalogue - never seen one)
Aston Martin DB5 (James Bond or stock) - Scale 1/24 - Full detail with working 007-Features and opening hood
Aston Martin DB6 - Scale 1/24 - Full detail with opening hood and trunk (also released in MPC-Packaging in the US)
Aurora:
Aston Marting DB4 - Scale 1/25 - Full detail with opening hood, doors and trunk - reissued under Monogram and Revell-Label
Profil 24:
Aston Martin Project 214 - Scale 1/24 - Curbside Resin Kit in good quality
Model Factory Hiro:
Aston Martin Project 214 - Scale 1/24 - High End Multimedia Kit with outstandig detail
Aston Martin DBR9 (several racing versions) - Scale 1/24 - High End Multimedia Kit with outstandig detail
There where a lot of resin- and pewter-kits in 1/43 from different manufactures covering at least the complete post-war model inf not even the pre-war range including DBS, V8 and Lagonda. Just search for Provence-Moulage, SMTS and all the other small manufacturers of 1/43-models.
Kind regards, Andy

Oh well, I'll agree on the "Multimedia Kit" but I have something to say about "outstanding details"... may be outstanding style....

i'm longing for a basic DB7 body form (or anything near it will do) to start the whole range of AM modern DBs...
i wonder if there's any existing kit that has a body shape roughly of a AM DB7 right now?
please advise if you think there's...

We need to see Renault Megane, BMW new M series or even concept CS, ASTON MARTIN!!!, maserati quattroporte old & new, Volvo, Bentley Continental GT, Range Rover, Lotus Evora, etc....
Spymaker will keep on praying!

Sorry Steven, but i think you are out of luck. Seriously, what is wrong with kit manufacturers? No new Astons, ok, they are expensive and maybe don't have a wide appeal to most model makes (doubt that though), but what about BMWs? Maseratis? I would buy every single BMW M they could make. New or classic. Same with Astons and Masers. Even I'm getting tired of new Ferrari kits. Oh, revell is going to make new California in two different variants? Oh well....

Agreed!
I know that Tamiya and Mercedes have a long relationship (SLR, SL AMG/non (R129), CL AMG/non (C140), S AMG/non (W140), 500SEC Lorinser/non, DTMs, GTRs), but what about the wonderful SL63 AMG with MCT gearbox? CLK63 Black Series?? SL65 Black Series???
The only modern roadcar MB was the R230 SL MKB by Baracca and that was like $250, it's even oop now!
Sorry for the rants, but in terms of Aston, I would take the DBS please.

Island Collectibles is working on one. It's a DB3S, Le Mans 1956, #8. It's undoubtedly fantastic, and fantastically expensive, probably in the range of $800.
Also available at Island's website http://www.islandcollectibles.net is a Profil 24 DP 214/215 Le Mans 1963/64. The picture is very impressive.'
I go to Island's website just to check out all the beautiful cars. Ed doesn't delete the stuff he's sold out; I guess he wants us to admire all the pretty pictures.

If anyone is up for the challenge of correcting a diecast, Mondo Motors does a 1/24 DB9 coupe http://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/mondo-motors-124-aston-martin-db9-coupe-gun-metal/. Imcredibly, even with all the success of Le Mans and being in the news all last year, it was still the only modern Aston I could find in that scale. Not even a Lagonda :crying:

Love to see more astons or other non ferrari 1/24 kits.
A vantage GT2 would be my dream come through but I very much doubt one will come. At least my hope is fixed on a vantage road version (I have enough 1/24 DBR-9's already to buy a DBS kit... (DBR-9's: 8 (nearly) ready and 8-10 kits to do)) :evillol: Except the DBR-9 I think the normal astons road car are a bit to stretched and like the shorter vantage (GT2) more for over a year now)
