Flowmaster original 40 Series vs. DeltaFlow 40

I'm about to do a simple muffler swap on my 2004 5.3L Z71 and I was wanting to know if anyone has any experience with the DeltaFlow 40 Series. On my last ride, a '98 Tahoe, I had 2 40 series mufflers with dual pipes out the back and it was the best sounding exhaust IMO.

On this truck, I definitely want to go with dual turn-downs instead of pipes out the back for a cleaner look and a meaner rumble, however, I'm worried about the interior resonance. From what I've read, the DeltaFlow is supposed to cut down on interior resonance without affecting much exterior sound. I definately DON'T want to step down to the 50 series, just wondering if anyone can attest to the sound quality outside the vehicle for the DeltaFlow as well as the interior resonance.

Thanks, guys.

On a Z71, I would do a regular 40 series.. The 5.3 with turndowns sounds great but make sure u turn them down right in front of the back axle.. It will be fine with the noise. Just make sure they aren't right up under the cab.

I've got a 4.8 with an Original 40 on, and my friend has a 5.3 with a deltaflow 40 and they sound exactly the same. But then again a different friend of mine has a deltaflow on his suburban (350) with camaro tips and it has more of a "hook" to the sound if you know what I mean.

Alright, guys, for future reference... Today I had the original 40 series welded on with 2 turndowns. Tone is awesome, resonance inside the cab is horrible. I'm going back on Friday to have pipes run out the back to help ease my headache. Turndowns=BAD

Turndowns=BAD

I could've told you that. I had turndowns on my 40 series delta flow and it was droning. So I had it exit out the side behind the wheel. Could almost pass as a stock exhaust setup, until I get on it :evillol:

Turndowns are only bad with Flows, but not with Borla :biggrin:

Well I ordered some short euro style stainless tips today which'll get put on next Tues. behind each tire. I cant wait, they should look and sound badass. And first thing tomorrow (Saturday) morning, I'm waking up and installing my new Ford torsion index keys to level my front end. Sorry for the extra info, but I'm excited!

Dont know anything about Deltaflow, but just had Flowmaster 40 series put on and could'nt be more pleased. Never thought a cat-back exhaust system could ever sound that good.
