Golf epc/ecu problem cranks but wont start

Hi,

Hoping someone can shed some light on this.

A coupld of weeks ago the epc light came on, the car was taken to the dealer with no fault found. The other day the epc light appeared again and the car went into "limp" mode. The car was pulled over but infortunately had to be moved due to the location. At this point the car started and moved 20 feet or so before totally cutting out. Now it cranks but will not start. VAG mentioned something about the timing being out (cam belt ? )

VAG dealer is having issues diagnosing this one, all the signs point to this being an expensive issue which seems crazy on a Y plate 1.6 manual golf with 40k miles on the clock ( fsh ).

Any help would be appreciated, shout if more details needed!

sounds like a faulty cam positon sensor

Thanks for the reply, the garage has come back and said one of the pistons is damaged. So looking forward to a nice £1200 repair bill it would seem.
