Why Women are Sluts and Guys are Players.

I know a lot of readers know what I'm talking about. It's the age old question:
Why is it that guys can go out and score left and right, and they are thought of as players, whereas a girl that goes out and sleeps around is thought of as a whore? It's kind of unfair, but it's also an undeniable truth. If anyone wishes to challenge this claim, please, speak up and express your point-of-view.

This is something I have given a lot of thought, and I think I have a semblance of an answer. You have to start by taking a step back to sort of analyze a factor leading up to the purpose of this post. This step back brings us back to this basic point: on a given night, a moderately good-looking girl and a moderately good-looking guy can both go out to a bar, and upon propositioning members of the opposite sex (i.e. that is propositioning for sex), the girl will have perhaps five times the success of the guy, and quite possibly even more. This is because of the fact that guys think about sex constantly, and that it serves as a focal point of their lives. For girls, yes, I guess it's a focal point for them as well, but it's altogether different (how I don't know exactly, I'm not a girl).

The male will jump at the chance to get some action. The female will perhaps have the same reaction, but will stop herself from following through. (Note that these are stereotypical reactions- -individual results may vary.) By this token, a guy must be good-looking, charming, have the right attitude (for those that don't know, it really is not what you say, but how you say it), and of course stunning good looks don't hurt either, in trying to meet and consequently take home members of the opposite sex. His peer the girl, on the other hand, needs far less in this same scenario to be successful. The term "two tits, a hole, and a heartbeat" (courtesy of Andrew Dice Clay) applies here. She needs only decent looks (i.e. not bad-looking, but no need to be gorgeous) and no bad rap as a slut, because then she's not getting anywhere except with guys who just don't know better (who have no fear of VD or the clap). Herein lies the inequality. Guys who score a lot have acquired a certain degree of skill or possess a much-coveted natural talent. Girls who score a lot just give it up too easily.

That, in a nutshell, is it. Yes, its unfair, but I tell it the way I see it. The guy who gets a lot of ass is respected and looked up to. He has what it takes to edge out many other guys who go out to bars and parties with the same predicament (no explanation of that predicament necessary). He has worked hard and done his homework, and it has paid off with many notches added to his bed post. On the other hand, the girl who gets a lot of ass is disrespected, because people know that unless she is very unattractive, she is just easy.

Yes, it's a cruel and harsh world that we live in, and human nature is full of booby traps for us to fall into. It's up to us to learn what they are and do our best to work around them. Until the next time-

i think it all goes back to our culture in general. men have always made full use of prostitution with little or no social consequences whereas women could do no such thing. If a woman was a prostitute she was a social outclass, whereas respectable women could not have sex at all untill they were married. I think we carry remnants of that in our society. If a woman has sex she is looked down on, so once that has happened why not sleep with every guy possible, after all, she is already a "slut" but women who wish to avoid that stigma have to keep their leg tight ;)
since gys never had that stigma to deal with they can be much more honest about their passions

IMO the women(good looking) also have it easyer to seduce a guy who's anyway always horny. So it becomes too regular. A guy always has to do hard work to seduce a hot girl, unless he has vast money and the hot girls want just the money... JMO but you'll have to agree in some points.

i have always thought that way also. a ok looking girl could so much easier get laid than a ok looking guy. its weird. girls dont have to do ne work they jus say lets go fuck to some guy and itll happen. an ok lookin guy has to try very hard and be able to say all the right things and probably have to buy the girl something. damn women.

I have to agree with most of what you are saying JD, and the sad thing is (no offense guys) that some guys see these hot women, eventually win them over only to find that IT"S SO HOT they (men) soon realize that "THE LOOKS" aren't what they want after all.
Quote me if I"m wrong, you could take a barbie girl, and a plain jane and the man nine out of ten ends up choosing the plain jane simply because she's sweet, considerate, and well just the girl next door type who gives him everything he wants and needs, where as Ms. Barbie just doesnt cut it.

Hate to say it, but I really could hardly agree with you more. It seems that the age old lesson to be learned is that in life, you generally date for speed, and marry for comfort. When it is time to settle down, in most cases you end up with the girl who is straight in the head, not the gorgeous girl who has issues. It's so sad but often true. There are exceptions, but they are often not common.

As for how ladies can fix their predicament? The jury is still out on that one. Not that I'm the all knowing be-all end-all on the topic (few things could be farther from the truth), but I'll see if I can come up with some theories here.

I just have to say the times are changing, slowly, but it is happening. Im my group of friends (all early to mid 20s) is guy who takes a new girl home every couple of weeks, he gets hasseled, and people to call him a male a slut. No body, even the less mature people respect him for what he does.
As more people become aware of the risks involved with lots of casual sex it will become less popular for both guys and girls to be into it. The resurgance (and i dont like this) of old fashioned christian moral values also seems to be having some say in it.

No kidding! A resurgance of "Christian moral values?" I suppose I have not been exposed to the movement yet, as I have not seen it, only in few and far between cases that are too insignificant to represent a changing proportion... 'course I do spend most of my time hanging out with a bunch of degenerates :right:

Kinda side with JD on this. I haven't seen this "Resurgance". Most of the arseholes I hang with love to have sex. Although, and I speak for myself, I never called a girl a whore or slut cuz she sleep around. I call them playas also. Now, the only time I would call a female that, is if does exactly that. Just sleeps around haphazardly without any regard to safety. And by sleep around I mean literally, just sleeps with anyone and everyone.

Most of my Friends are all staunch athiests also(degenrates?) but (and I can't vouch for the US) there is rising swell of surport for christian beliefs. Surport for christian ideals seems to wax and wan all over the world at diffrent times, and certianly here in NZ in the last 15yrs there as been a gradual increase in the level of surport. There is now at least 3 televanglists on diffrent channels, youth groups are all full, and we've even had at some nutters from some American church of the new dawn run of campus at Uni.

I don't think we're observing much in the way of that movement here in the US. Although honestly, I am not the best person to speak on the subject, as I seldom turn on the TV anymore. But I have not noted any new "televanglists" getting lots of support (I know there's Billy Graham and.. I think his name is Luis Palau, but I know few who are big supporters of these guys).

Like Moppie, most of my friends are also staunch atheists. And people that I meet generally seem to follow suit. I don't see the resurgence, and I am not doubting those claims for those of you who are exposed to it, but I have not witnessed it at this time. But I would actually be thrilled to see a resurgence of any religion, at least as a source of spirituality, for most of the American population today. I think it would do most of the lot some good.

You have to be carefull with introducing "faith" into society, its a very powerfull thing, and can do more harm than good if its not managed correctly.

I'll tell you why (this is going to the first post, I have not read the others yet.)

Males in our society, in our culture, still follow Pater familias where they are the boss and you have concede to what ever they want. A "control" gene has been found in the DNA of males with a extra Y chromosome, that actually has the controlling male figure implanted in them. They think that they can do whatever they want. Don't blame them, blame evolution. We did not have 5000 years ago. It evolved in us during the thousands of years of Roman rule in Europe. In fact, studies show that Italians have the smallest divorce rate. Why is this? They let boys be boys, and sleep around, go out on dates, etc. But its also because a person with the control gene is also a drunk, and is very physical, and it turns out 2 out of 4 italian men have it. So its incredibly widespread there, and in all of Europe.

Traditionally, because of the male dominance, women have not been allowed to sleep around. Some cultures don't even let them show their faces as religious tradition. So a lot of it does boil down to religion, comfort, and overall tradition. Men feel that when a women goes about as a "whore" shes taking the control from them, and she is. So they feel threatened, thus lashing out verbally, even physically at times. So you see where everything comes back to control issues. And this whole thing leads back to evolution, where when something is instilled upon you for generations and generations you are going to have it.

I think you'll find the low divorce rate in Italy has more to do with the strong Catholic following than anything else, quite simply getting a divorce is just not done.
However the rest of what you said makes perfect sence, (except for the genetic idea of male domince, I would like to see that proven).
Over the last 10-15,000 years of human civilastion it has been the men who have gone out and done the work, while the woman stayed home and had the kids. Any woman who slept around was going to have a: someone else kids, or b: kids with no male figure to surport them. This was of course reinforced by religious views in most cultures, and ingrained further into human behaviour.
However "times they are a changing", woman no longer have to stay home and raise the kids, and a single educated female is quite capable of holding down a well paying job, and rasing a child on her own. But this is something quite new to us as a species, and so it take time for us to react and change. It will happen, but it wont happen in the next year, or the next 10 years, if you look at how long it took to get ingrained then even if it takes another 50years, its an amazingly short time for the change to occur.

I have been there 2 times in that past 5 years on digs in Rome and the wives let the men run wild...completely respect them in every way, but let them do whatever they want. You also have to remember, no other country in the world has grown like ours has in beliefs and culture, so Italy is in fact the "Old Country". And most likely will be for a few more generations.
