I'm looking into buying a 2wd silverado (because i can only spend about 8-9k and cant afford a decent 4x4) and curious to what tires pull the hardest through sugar soft sand in 2wd? preferably without having to lift it at all. thanks in advance.

I have an 02 4x2 and use BFG al terrain taco's (ta/ko)
These seem to work well in So Cali sand that I have experienced. Hopefully more people will chime in...

buy a air compressor that plugs into a cig lighter. when your going into sand, deflate yours tires to about 10 or 15 psi. it seemed to help me on the virginia coast.
