Off Topic: ARGGH THE WORST DAY EVER!!!

I cannot wait to get this day over with. I need to rant and blow off some steam so either read this and laugh at my misfortune or ignore it, either way is fine.
My day started out shitty! I woke up way to early (I forgot to reset the alarm from my "hunting wakeup time" to my "work wake up time") so I reset my clock and go back to bed, but I didn't turn it back on. So I got up late. Then my work trucks battery was dead, so I went to the other truck, it also would not start. So I called the boss and he came and jumped me. We then went to the local welding shop and picked up some parts for a clarifier at work. We picked up a 2" diameter x 10" long steel axle, 2 lead wall bearings, 4 lock rings and 2 gears. (This is for a rectangular chain and flight clarifier if anyone is familiar with Wastewater treatment) We drive back to the plant ( 20 minutes away ) put the bearings on the axle and put it in place, put the gears on and lock them down, it started to rain, not bad so we decided to finish this because we really needed the tank back online, put the new chains on, and the gears did not line up, so we had to take it back apart. I tripped myself on a rope in the bottom of the tank and fell face first into the sludge. Then it started to piss and pour. So we get the gears lined up and locked back down to the axle and then we hooked the chains back up. Turned it on and the drag flight wedged itself between the floor and a gear, because we didn't have the axle spaced quite right, and it sheered the sheer pin off. So we fixed that and put the sheer pin back in and turned it on....it worked finally. So I go home, first thing I did was put a new sign up on my shop, while I'm on the ladder I dropped the screws and the drill, breaking my cordless drill. Then I came in and check this board, went out to take the pictures of my tires on the truck for Blenderwizard's post about tires. Downloaded the pics, stood up, caught my foot around the cord on the camera and knocked it to the floor breaking it. So then I make dinner, splashed hot grease on my shirt, didn't burn me but ruined my shirt (oh well I got a new rag for the shop). Made the kids' and the wife's plate, went to make mine and flipped my steak and green bean casserole into the floor. Well the dog ate good anyway. Man What a SHITTY DAY, I'm Going to bed.
Thanks for letting me rant.

Oh, I agree water is a privelege. I work part time at our water treatment plant too. And things there are a PITA too at times Especially when you get a 15" main break at 2am.....been there....done that......and man do people bitch when their water tastes a little different, or looks a little off color, or if the have a leak.....wow, you better fix that for them or your gonna get sued.....I hate working for the public!

I am not an engineer but I am the first one the crews, management and the city lawyers call when the chit hits the fan. I do "Feild Engineering", make it work on the fly. Last good one was a 36" CSC force main that was drilled into by the elect dept and the end of the line was lower than the level of the diverter box at the plant. 3 days and 2.6 million gallons later we had it fixed. Talk about a sweet paycheck with 36 hours of overtime on my birthday!!!!! Love those calls in the middle of the night when a 16" water line took out 3 lanes of I-35 for 14 hours.....
But face first is the one thing I don't want to do EVER.......
:disappoin :nono: :uhoh:

There are only 2 people that work at our sewage department. We are a 1mgd plant serving 3000 people. So we pretty much do it all. I do all the laboratory work, vehicle and plant maintenance. I am in charge of record keeping also ( and I only make 22K a year ). My boss is the Operator in responsible charge, I'm just assistant operator. I've fallen into a grease pit, slipped into our sludge holding lagoon and had a 4" CI Sludge extraction air lift blow apart in my hands, covering me with "black gold." Not fun. I have also had a rubber coupling on a blower fly apart while near it. AND I HATE screw type primary sludge pumps. At least what I fell in today was RAS not primary sludge!!! Oh, but all in all I really do love my job........There is definatley job security in sewage....you can't outsource crap!
