OK today I found a engine on sale for 300$ ....a full engine kit. The man who was selling it ...about 50-60 years old got the engine out of some crx that had crached near hes home .He said it was a 1,6 doch engine.
I have read a lot about engines and the engine codes ....but when i so it it was just puzzeling......i know there is a ZC but wtf is a ZC1-120 ? thats what was writen on the engine block :screwy: any ideas?.....nothing ont the net....and it look like a ZC but had some wierd thing near the injector.....im gone go and pick the engine up on friday and take some pics and post em.

Deadboy
11-29-2005, 12:00 PM
But if it does turn out to be a 1gen integra engine .....how hard would it be to swap it into a 4gen.......have to make new mounts ? and thats it?

marked001
11-29-2005, 12:07 PM
I'm not sure what the issues are....as its been a loooong looong time since I discussed this.. but the one big issue that always stood out was that it really wasnt worth all the effort b/c that engine does not put out much more power (if any) than the si engine...

Deadboy
11-29-2005, 12:41 PM
OK now i am realy confused.....some sites on the net say that the USDM ZC integra engine will not fit in a 4th gen civic but EUDM models do
Is there a gray valve cover to ? .....the light in hes garage was not that good to.......and to the naked eye it looked like any ZC

About the mount....will i have to make all the new mount or just 1-2 ?

edit: ok found out that the timing belt side hast to be rebuilt

black top is the 88-91 zc from europe and japan.. the use never saw this engine.. brown/olive top is the 88-89 integra that wont bolt in, just like that site says...

and yeah..the engine side only has one mount. the other 3 are on the tranny..so depending on tranny..

One question more.....if i was to buy a 89-91 ZC block could i just but the parts of the 86-87 teg engine on the 89 ZC so it will be a bolt on?

why are you so hot on this engine? if you're gonna buy a zc block..just buy the entire zc! haha.. still wont work, the head wouldnt bolt up..

There arent any to buy here.......its kind of hard to get you hands on one all the junkyards are full of 1,3-1,5l engines....and non of them are even B series......and ebay well i dont got 1000$ for a engine. If the engine on ebay is like 600$ then the shiping in the US about 250$ and then over seas to Estonia + toll+tax+ some littel feas.....it will cost me a lot And dont start with cars form germany :grinno: U buy it and as soon as you get home the car dies.....they beat the s"¤t out of they cars

But ok if its not a teg engine then will a 1,6 block work or still the same?

The 1st gen integra doesn't bolt into the 4th gen civic with out some modifications... Timing belt side motor mount... like you mentioned... but the rear bell housing bolt wont line up either. Currently i'm trying to put a second gen ZC into a 3rd gen REX which is just about the opposite of what you are doin. but i'm using an integra transmission and the ZC motor and not all of the bolt holes line up... I had to modefy the block a bit to get all of the bolts to work.

Hmm at the moment im thinking of getting the mount remade so they will fit the 4th gen. Will have to do my homwork on the mounts.....caz we dont want it failing when i drive it  ...well thats my first idea sofar....but there is room for improvment....ill look into it when i get the engine tomorrow

But nice work on ur car.....how dos it run?

Use the teg pistons in the Civic motor.

Use the teg pistons in the Civic motor.

:1:
I agree. Tear both motors down and build one up. Better use premium gas though and tune it.

Question: How exactly does the distributor work for carbed engines since there is relatively no ECU or lack of certain aspects in that respect? Is it more of a vaccum timing advance or something?

Deadboy

Its a teg engine......got it and here some pics: sry i used my phone cam

Seems to be in working order.

the distributor uses vaccum from the engine to work.

Wow. The intake manifold is a lot different than ZC or Si manifold. If you're going to try to stuff that engine into your car and wire it over to PGMFI, you may be a little upset that you did all that for 18 more hp? than what you have now. However, if you take those teg pistons out of that engine and stuff them into your current engine and keep your carbs, your car will probably gain that 18hp easy.

I have a 1,4L GL dualcarb 66kw or 90hp stock.....you cant fit 1,6 pistons in a 1,4 .....and abot the intake. I am going to buy something better....if i do find a DOHC 1,6 thats bolts up ill try to make something of the 2 engines

Why can't you fit 1.6 pistons in a 1.4? Can somebody please clarify this?

Maybe they are bigger then the 1,4 ones?....have tried to fit 1,5 pistons in a 1,4 lada engine dident work.....and if i drill the engine it will be weak.

Hey Deadboy, I'm not trying to burst your bubble but you just paid $300 for a set of cams.

I'm a 1G CRX guy so I'm very familiar with this motor. The ZC1 is an '85-'87 Integra motor (yes, JDM Integras were available in '85). The "brown top" Integra ZC motor has a lower compression ratio and lower HP than any other DOHC ZC motor. It still has more HP than a USDM Integra motor but the only difference is the cams. For the amount of work involved in getting this motor to swap into your car, you might consider picking up a cheap 1G CRX or 3G Civic and swapping the ZC1 motor in, then selling it. This motor WILL fit in a 1G CRX if you also swap in a 1G Integra tranny and steering knuckles, the guy you bought this motor from was just blowing smoke up your a$$. This motor will not fit easily into a 2G CRX of 4G Civic, as KrisSmithRocks said, you'll be doing the exact opposite of what he's doing.

Oh crap, then never mind about the pistons. I was thinking 89 teg for some reason. So basically, there is nothing he can do but try to fabricate a driverside motor mount and reconfigure the bellhousing mount for his new weak engine. Dude, you need to get your money back.

I'm a 1G...

Got the tranny to its a full engine exept for the ecu and outlet.....well i could sell the engine for parts....and get the money to get ZC 89 but its gone be hard to find one......can try to make the mount .Found a guy at honda club of estonia who is working on the same thing.

But if do find the right ZC im gone buy it

mmkay.....the gearbox from my 1,4gl 4th gen civic bolted on 1:1 to the ZC1 and so did the zc1 gearbox on the 1,4  soo not too much work left.....im starting to think that the ZC1 that i have is euro and a bit different

just go buy a 90-91 b18b1 you will only have to make two mounts the back mount and the pass. side mount. you can find them for about 300-400 and have 140hp in a crx. dont buy it that motor only has 115hp just as much as a d16a1
