OK, I've had it. This pump has been noisy ever since I bought the truck new. After 115K miles I've decided to change it out. Any recommendations on where to get one that will not ne noisy? Everyone I talk to says all aftermarked/rebuilt ones are noisy.

I recently replaced the pump/sender unit on my son-in-law's '95. Bought from Ford dealer. I believe it was approx $130. Also had to replace the filler neck assembly. $60 or so.

The pump is quiet ... but my wallet is still growling.

Well, I misread your posting ... somehow I thought you were talking about a fuel pump!

Too much early eggnog, I guess.

.. You may want to try filling once or twice with Valvoline SynPower power steering fluid. It will take a few miles, but you may be surprised.

I'll give it a try.

I have used new and rebuilt pumps. A couple of things to remember, they are vane style pumps. When installing the pulley on the new pump do NOT use a impact tool. Install it by using hand tools. After installation let it sit for a while to get the air out of the system before starting, and last but not least to keep the pump from whining in the future do not turn the steering wheel without the engine running. Something happens inside the pump when you do this, what I don't know.
