I always forget my lights on! Question...

Is there something that I can install, or modify using a relay, that will automatically shut off my headlights once the key is turned to the "off" position? If not, is there something I can buy that will alert me (by beeping) that my lights are still on? Thanks.

There are systems out there that you can buy that automaticly work your headlights for you. They use a light sensor to determine if it's sunny or gray/dusk/night time. During the day, it outputs 80% to the headlights, and at night and bad weather, it outputs 100%, and automaticly shuts off when you turn the car off.

That sounds great but I was looking for something rather inexpensive. How much would a unit such as that run? Do you have a direct link to a site selling them? Thanks.

Evidently your Camry isn't a very recent one, because my '99 turns the lights off automatically if I turn the ignition off and open the driver's door. (And mine is a CE, so it's no "luxury feature.")
Some years ago, I bought a cheap beeper device from the local auto parts store. It connected to the headlights and the ignition circuit (both on the fusebox - but not of a Toyota) and attached under the dash with double sided tape. Nothing fancy, but it did the job.
Why do you need "a direct link" to find one? Can't you try a web search yourself?

www.directed.com would be one company that makes that. I'm sure there are others, but I don't have any link for those right off hand. I know it's a bit on the "flashy" side, but like Accord said...try an auto parts store and see if they have a small beeper or something.

My car's a 90 Camry. I should've denoted that earlier.

Didn't have enough time when I last posted the message.
I'd buy the beeper but I'm not sure which wires to splice/connect. That's the main reason I was asking on this forum; to see if anyone had prior knowledge or experience. Thanks.

Hmm. So you figure WE have time on our hands?

Hello.
The1NamedMark has a 1990 camry and it should have the same feature as AccordCodgers 1999 camry as far as the auto headlight shutoff is concerned.The1NamedMark might want to check to see why it is malfunctioning. I have a 1989 camry LE and it has this particular feature (turns the lights off automatically if I turn the ignition off and open the driver's door) I believe all camrys had this built in handy feature.

Our 86 Camry DX had this feature. Currently, our 94 XLE and our 98 XLE have this feature. I always assumed it was standard on all Camrys.
