I just bought a 1990 Bmw 735iL, it has 174,000 miles on it, but is in great condition mechanically, body, & interier wise. I paid $2000.00 for it. Anything I should know about this car? Problems that are common with them?

I've got a 90 735iL and they are notorious for P/S leaks which are usually due to the crappy factory clamps. I would go ahead and change the clamp on the hose from the reservoir to the pump whether it's leaking or not, just to save a headache in the future.

Other than that, I can't think of anything else to warn you about.

Mine has been mostly problem free. Other than scheduled maintainence, it hasn't seen any real garage time.

Good Luck!

Sounds like a clamp problem. My current 7 is my second one. My first 7 was an
88 735i and it had the P/S leak as well, due to the faulty clamps. It was also mostly problem free.

BMW's are like women, in that if you've got a good one, you're going to love taking her out for a spin but if you've got a bad one, you're going to avoid taking her out of the garage and you'll begin to fantasize about other cars. For the most part, these are amazing cars which were way ahead of their time back in 1990.

Hope you got a good one!
