I have a 98 eclipse GS and i have a ticking coming from somwhere in my engine and dont know were it is coming from. Where is a good place to start looking for it?
The noise only comes when the engine is not warm.

We need more information, like when does it tick, when doesn't it tick. Does the ticking speed up with the rpms?

How you doing man? I have a 99 eclipse gst and mine does the same thing. What I have been told is it is the lifters and to put lucas oil stabalizer when I do an oil change. Hope this helps.

There are other things it could be, but the most common complaint about a ticking noise comming from the engine is lifter tick.

How would I go about fixing that problem?

There is nothing to worry about with lifter tick. It does no harm to the engine. However, EricSchnabel has the 420a motor, and they usally don't have lifter tick. Make sure that your not low on oil.

And don't put Lucas Oil Stabalizer in it. Everybody says it's crap and screws your motor because it's too thick.

Wait lifter tick? What is that? JP. The only true way to solve lifter tick is to get the upgraded lifters. They not only don't tick but they also have 3mm hole and the old ones hae a 1mm hole
