06 eclipse gt vs 04 srt

I just got a 2006 eclipse gt a week algo. and i love it. the first night i had it i raced a gt mustang and spanked it. now this sunday someone i know wants to race me for some $$ in his neon srt.

he loves to brag about how many cars he spanks and just becuz its turbo and its 4WD.....MAN I HATE NEONS! the only mods he has is a stupid muffler, and a BOV.

from what i read the gt eclipse has about 263 to 275 hp and im not sure about the neon but i herd it has 240 to 245 hp. correct me if im wrong.

so, should i race him and what do yall think the race would be like?

I think it has about 230. Not sure about who would win though. The SRT is lighter than the 4g Eclipse. I saw a video of a stock SRT4 and a Stock G35 racing and the SRT 4 won the race. Anyhow it should be a good one.

I hate to brake it to you, but an SRT4 can hardly be called a "neon". One of my friends has an 05 SRT4 ACR, and another has a 99 Mustang Cobra with mods, and the SRT4 gives him a run. The cobra beats him...but not like you would think a Cobra should. Also, the SRT4 is not 4wd, its Fwd. I would be careful about this one. But do it anyway because I want to hear what happened.

I was looking at www.edmunds.com (http://www.edmunds.com) and they only had the 4dr Turbo Sedan between 2003-2005 and they all had FWD. Perhaps the AWD option was outside of the US?

Like the cobra should? haha the 99 cobra are the often called the slowbras because they are so horribly bad. I'm actually suprised that the cobra won.

"99 Mustang Cobra with mods"

This kid has about 500hp at the wheels...hardly a "slowbra". He also changed his rear end out to get better accell up to 100. He beat the SRT pretty good, not off the line, but after he hit 2nd he got him, but not nearly as bad as some other cars I have seen him destroy.

I still think that the SRT 4 would win the race. I have driven both cars and personally I feel the SRT 4 is the quicker of the 2

i have yet to hear of a srt-4 w/ AWD, i highly doubt that it is true

neon srt-4's do not have mufflers from what i've read, not in the least, they have resonators pretty far up the pipe though, but no muffler what i've read

don't race ur new eclipse if your going to screw it up, just give it to me and you can have mine, seriously

teh srt-4 will win, the base model srt-4 would win by not so much and if it is a higher staged one, it would spank you

i have also never heard of an AWD srt4 and never heard of that option. get him to put it on a lift and press the gas. then you will see if its AWD.

aparetly its not a well know option but dodge does ofer it a some what of a conversion kit. From what i hear it costs almost half of what the car is worth id have to ask my friend he works for dodge.

i see alot of srt's on the road where i live.

i raced another one a few nights algo on the freeway. i won but not by much. i don't know what year it was, i know the 04's are a little faster then the 03's

im not saying my car is faster. its just in the 1st and 2nd gen's. eclipse threads i got bashed on, saying the 06 eclipse are tanks and the srt will destroy me. i raced two different srt's, one twice and the other once. the first race i lost, i had a really bad take off but even at that he didnt destroy me. the secound race i won barely at a rolling start. the third race was the race a few nights algo. i know its pretty much a drivers race, now if the srt's i raced had better drivers, then mybe it would be a different story. the srt's are faster cars becuz they weigh alot less but a stock srt will not destroy a stock 06 eclipse gt.

there is no 4wd srt, i guess i herd him say something about 4wd and i tought he was talking about his car. my bad.

its a convesion kinda like the ralliatr conversions for the eclipses

i really like both cars a lot and thats what brought me to this forum.. im planning on racing both to see how i do.

SRT-4- underrated, 230 hp 250 tq... yea go look at some dynos, if this thing was properly rated it would be more like 260 hp and 285 tq.. it makes the peak tq at 2200 rpms.. and if u kno a lot about powerbands u want ur peak tq to be there early and the hp to be there late.. as well as a nice flat line with the tq called a platue.. from 2200 to about 4 grand the torque(250 ft lbs) will be there.. the hp drops off kinda early at around 5200.. now the thing with this car is, is that ppl dont kno how to drive them..

ur best bet is to take it from a dig.. and hope he goes up in smoke.. all this torque with FWD and 215s on the car is horrible.. kinda pissed me off like when i looked at the 05 GTO with 235s.

the eclipse is fast.. no doubt.. if anyone has a dyno i would really like to see it...

but if properly driven the srt4 can run a 13.7, i've seen it done.. this is rare tho.. most of them run mid to low 14s.

yes the eclipse is fast, it traps the same speed on the 1/4 as other cars that run high 13's and low 14's, yet when tested it was said to run a 14.6 or so, it is entirely possible, that this is b/c of the motor mounts they used, at least on my eclipse, the motor mounts made a big difference on how fast it got off the line and how much easier as well.

In 2005, the SRT4 came with an optional ACR package. This upgraded the tires to 225 and the suspension to an adjustable TOKICO shock. This is what my friend has and with the LSD that came out in 04, and the bigger tires this car can launch pretty hard. It corners very well and has very strong pull through 3rd gear. We were able to hang with an older style 600CC Kawasaki sport bike at a 75mph highway roll, and the SRT motor is stock. I dont doubt that if Mitsu. started to think about racing they would take a lot of weight off, and it would be a much better machine. If there is one problem I see that is from a manufactuers standpoint, its that they put way too much weight in all their cars. I think that they should offer a sport line of their car, like Nissan has their NISMO 350Z, and Dodge has their SRT lineup. I think that it would sell very well in today's market.

Mitsubishi does have a sport line the EVO's are. Personally I where going to buy a new Mitsubishi right now I and my choices are a New Evo or a New Eclipse I would go with the Evo. For one it is only around a couple thousand more for the Evo and with that you get more hp, awd, and a motor that is very easy to mod and can handle up to 500 horsepower on stock interals.

^ srt4's motor also handles 500 at the wheels on stock internals.. its just that when u get up to the 300 whp level with fwd, it sucks.. then u need to use really good DR's.. i love the evo though.. i would get a white one..

so does the new eclipse come with an lsd? how hard are they to launch.. i kno my new car is easy..

and still crankwalks like the 2g's did, at least i've heard reports of crankwalk already

"Ralliart" is mitsubishi's line of performance automobiles, they had a ralliart lancer (not evo), they are supposed to be having a ralli-art eclipse, galant and endeavor coming out

the evo's are just the infamous AWD rally car that stinking rocks... think if they had a ralli-art version of THAT!

LOL Elchicoloco86 i just saw on your signature Club3g sticker mods good for 30+ hp. That's funny. But you only got 30hp. I put mine on and dyno'd my car and I saw about a 50-60 hp increase at the wheel. Maybe you just got a bad set. J/K

LOL yeah will I had the dealership put mine on upside. It applied more downforce on the car and makes it more air dynamic. An actually with the stickers and a full exhaust you only 40 horsepower. I gained 60 horsepower with my stickers cause all i have is a fart can on my car. Because everyone knows that you get more power with just a muffler then the entire exhauset system. LOL!!!!!

If they made the SRT more normal looking I would like it. It looks to ricey. Loose the wing, and lower it then I might like it.

i know the risk of pushing a new car. it had about 300 miles on it when i first raced that mustang. but i couldn't help it. u mean to say u would've backed down?

Yeah agreed. I don't think that it is worth getting into a pissing contest especially with someone that is driving a Mustang in a brand new car with a brand new engine before it is broken in. To me it would just not be worth the risk of it.

There is no AWD kit or anything for the SRT-4 OR is there a kit for AWD eclipses rallyart.. now YES they have a rallyart eclipse concept but that is not a kit that is a car.. they say 4G63 AWD pretty much an evo inside the 2006 eclipse with carbon all over.. Now that is cleared up..

notice that he said "SRT style neon". you can take any neon and make it an SRT style. put the big wing, dual exhaust, and the vented hood and you have an SRT style neon.

Dodge makes a neon that is the SRT styling it comes with the wing and front bumper and all that ghey shit.. BUT it's the NORMAL neon motor not the 2.4T I own an SRT so i think i know wtf i am talking about... ALSO my brother works at the dodge dealer here.. parts counter to be exact and there is NO AWD kit part number.. I think i would own that if there was! I can only pray some day they make one i doubt it though because 05 is the last year for the SRT-4 NEON they are no more..

His is a stock red. They are kinda rare. But I have seen a couple of the rolling around.

yup, its the stock red. i think its either saronna red or ultra red. '03 was the last year that they had it(may have been the only year).

i was able to beat an 04 srt-4 (FWD) with my 2000 gt eclipse but he totally fucked up shifting and we didnt run again due to the presence of law enforcement but i did drive the srt4 and its quite quick, however somewhat difficult to compare to the eclipse - totally different kind of power to it. eclipse has much wider torque band and more comfortable feel but yea im pretty sure dah srt4 is faster
