I have an 88 accord lx-i that is cutting out after it is heated up, won`t hardley run and ends up shutting off. Will not start back up untill it cools off. I have put a different coil on it and it seemed to help but it did`nt take care of the problem completely. Still having trouble.
If anyone could help me i would greatly appreciate it.
thanks

Need to do some tests. Your problem is either spark or fuel. When it is hot, do you lose spark? If spark is OK, check fuel. I will bet that the problem may be the coil or igniter.

i have replaced the coil already. not sure where the igniter is located.
have you heard of an EFI relay? some one suggested that to me, but i had never heard of that.

The idea of testing is to localize the problem and not just start swapping parts without knowing what area is the problem. When it doesn't start, do you have spark? The igniter takes the place of the points and completes the electrical circuit for the coil to ground when the ECU says to fire. The ECU provides a ground circuit to the igniter when firing. The igniter is inside the distributor.
