I am lookin to buy a 1996 Audi A4, with 160K miles on it. It has a V6 engine and 4 wheel drive. I test drove the vehicle and it has some starting problem with the battery. The dealer said he would sell it for $4000. Is this a good price or is the dealer selling it for a lower price. I dont know if it has any mechanical problems.. Do i need to get it checked by a specialist and what problems should i look for.
Thanks in advance...

well before you buy a car you should have a mechanic you trust look over it. even if you dont know a mechanic, just find one that isnt the dealer. dont ever buy a car without having someone look over it. and if the seller says that its a problem with the battery and hasnt fixed it by the time you test drove it, it just might be something other than the battery. anytime someone says, "oh, its just this, its easy to fix" your response should be, "well, why isnt it fixed now?". if hes trying to sell you something, he should present it in the best possible light. there might be something hes trying to hide. have an independent mechanic look at and see what he says, and if the seller wont let you take it to a mechanic just walk away.
