yeah the GTUs is the best 2nd gen rx made IMO, how much could i get reliably out an NA? if you know. and what kind of mods/upgrades would i need, also i was debating on a TII swap since the GTUs has alot of the TII parts on it, well except for the engine and a couple other things not to sure at this point, thanks again in advance.

well from what i've heard and seen the NA rotaries seem to work very well with reliability, but turbocharged rotaries have not in most cases, it can be argued like before though, you could do a swap and it gives you many more options for modifications but you can still stay with no turbo and get a lot out of it.

I was talking to the guys at rx7 Specialties in Calgary. There's not a lot you can do with an NA to get crazy HP, the most they seem to figure you can get out of it is 200, give or take 20 or so. All depends on how much you are willing to spend.

But you'd be looking at a piggy back system, exhaust, fuel rail and injectors, pump.

That's about all you can really do with an NA without rebuilding and doing like a streetport and whatnot.

A pport can get you to the 300 mark but steet driving isn't the easyest to do.

Depending on the port disigng from big money to a mild street port to a bridge the reliability decreases just like when you add any major power adder to an engine.

Edit: Good porting explination. http://www.mazdarotary.net/porting.htm

define reliablility

im sure even a bridgeport na would be reliable

driveability is a different problem

i have one word NOS

umm hate to burst the bubble, but NOS is an acronim standing for "Nitrous Oxide Systems" so rather is is one acrinim or 3 words.

But no a NA with nitrous will not hit 300whp for very long. It will go poof and you will call me for a new motor, so do that :P

No but seriously, a streetable 300whp NA is unheard of. Often a 300whp NA race car is unheard of (using stock 13B peices but doable with other bits here and there).

You woudl be much better off with aiming for 220whp MAX as you go over that the NA drivline will start to hate you and pull the "RX7's arent reliable" statement right from your mouth:P

Got questions? keep asking them.

then again it depends what he means by reliable, so far it has been but later on down the road you never know.

Those two extra rotors really help with performance tho. lol

Engine, wiring harness, transmision, driveshaft, rear dif, radiator, fuel pump and all the components that go along with the 13bt engine.
