in all ways, no joking, without a doubt, no questions asked, and every other massively possible way killed.
I was driving in my moms car to go get a hair cut, sitting at a red light, when I hear a light rumble from behind. I look up to see this black beast of a car rolling up. It was new, still had paper plates. It was a Chevy, and it had one simple badge that made me know there was no way in hell, if we did race, that I would win:

Yeah, thats right ladies and gents, I raced a C6 Z06 'Vette today. Lets just say that I lost. Really, I mean, by the time I was at 60, he was long gone. At least he stopped at the next light, and smiled a huge shit eatin grin when I gave him the thumbs up. Beautiful car. My bud was riding with me, looked over and said, "so thats what an 11 second quarter mile looks like."
I know he was going all out, or at least enough to light up the tires. Christ, that thing was loud and fast. I'll tell ya, I'm still not 100% impressed by the LS7 as a motor, but as a whole, that car was amazing.

I don't see how you can not be impressed by the LS7 as a motor.
505hp from a single cam motor with no forced induction... gets decent milege if you'd keep your foot out of it... weighs less than 500lbs. Awesomenesss.
Displacement gets you the power... plain and simple.

And to further back that up, the age old saying, "There's no replacement for displacement..."
And the price isn't too hefty too (bang for your buck)

motortrend did a test with the Z06 and ford GT and dodge viper. the Z06 actually put down more whp then a viper. the Z06 puts down around 453whp on a mustang dyno. and mustang dynos usually reads around 20whp less then a standard dyno. that means the Z06 is actually making around 530 crank hp.

7 Liters, only 500 crank hp?
Yeah? And your point being?
2006 S600 Roadster: 5.5L V12 twin turbocharged only 493hp, 590ft-lbs.. lots of torque sure... but a TT 5.5L V12 only 493hp. In a 4400lb car. Price?
MSRP: $131,675
2006 S65 AMG: 6.0L V12 twin turbocharged with only 602hp, 738ft-lbs... once again lots of torque... but in a 4800lb car.
MSRP: $169,775
2006 SLR McLaren: 5.5L Supercharged V8, 617hp 575ft-lbs pushing a 3700lb car.
MSRP: $452,750
2006 BMW M5: 5.0L V10, 500hp 383ft-lbs pushing a 4000lb car.
MSRP: $81,200
Each of those cars are forced induction, with exception of the M5. Each of those cars is 5.0L or more. Each car is a V10 or V12, with the exception of the SLR McLaren. I mean, cars with Twin turbocharged 6.0L V12s only(and I say that with sarcasm) making 100hp more than a N/A 7.0L V8.
Aint too bad for a POS Chevy... not to mention the price difference for the C6 Z06 and some of those AMGs... mannn talk about expensive rides! Sheesh! First time I've really looked into them on the Benz website... where do people get all this money? I'm in the wrong business...
Lets look at something not turbo/supercharged from Mercedes-Benz... like the 2006 CLK500:
5.0L V8, 302hp 338ft-lbs... Now, that is unimpressive. A 5.0L making only 302 crank horsepower? C'mon... LS1, true a 5.7 liter, makes 350hp 345ft-lbs... Both naturally aspirated of course.
Although, if we look at the Mercedes-Benz AMG C55 it's special built 5.5L V8 makes a nice 362hp 373ft-lbs. That, is a bit more impressive by todays standards I say.
They're both base priced in the $55,000 range... the CLK500 being $55,125 and the AMG C55 being $55,225. For the $100 more, I'd get the extra 60hp. Not to mention the C55 is 45lbs lighter and four dours.
My point is, saying the car only makes 500hp from 7.0L's is a m00t point mang. I never heard you complain about the LS6 making 405hp from 5.7L... or the LS2 making 400hp from 6.0L.
Not till Chevy took a C5/6R race motor and basically made it road legal did you start complainin...

OO yes, totally forgot about Ferrari's and the others... I guess that's what I get for posting at 2am half asleep!
I guess my ultimate point being, cause after reading my own post... I don't see one... is that who cares how it makes the fuggin power... it makes 500+horsepower and out performs (or comes very damn close to) many cars two to four times it's price ($69,800.)
I don't want to get into the modified cars vs stock cars debate... but I will for just a second. For less than $5000, you could swap out that already monster cam and add longtube headers and put in a proper airfilter system and you'd be right with any car that previously was faster. Although not much is all that much faster at that point.
The only thing that any of those cars has over the Corvette is the fact that the Corvette is still an American car, built with American parts... which means the 'quality' is low. In comparison to like an AMG Benzo yeah...
But... who effin cares... it sucks your eyeballs into the back of your head under acceleration... for 70,000 measly dollars.
Four years ago, in 2002. The C5 Z06 with just 405hp was the performance bargain of the century. At $55,000... it, at the time, was able to keep most uber-cars within sight.
Now, the C6 Z06 is not only able to keep uber cars in sight. But pass them up on occasion. Bitchin!
Off to find my piggy bank to go count my pennys... I want a Z06 now! :iceslolan

Cassie just likes that Itialian company (forget the name) that takes Audi's, Porsches, BMW's, and low end Benzs' and Fixes them up to boot.
Everyone remember that video of the M5 chasing down one of their audi's down the streets of Russia?
upon further research the thing was making 200bhp/litre.
Which is astounding for a reliable and streetable piston engine.
However the LS7 is quite the beast. and the Z06 does get some nice EPA estimates. not many other vehicles that can say "im making 500hp from 7.0l" and get over 20mpg.

Good loss. You should be impressed with the car, as it is a well known fact that the car is pumping out more like 530 horsepower (They dyno around 454whp stock). Not a car to mess with my any means of the imagination, as heads/cam/nitrous Z28's aren't running as fast in alot of cases. Their tires limit their traction. Here's a vid of one at the track:

Car is stock. Don't play games with one for money, you may just lose your cash, cause with drag radials it's an easy 10 sec. car.

Everyone else-I'm not bad mouthing the Z06. On the whole I think its an impressive car. For what its worth, I have made the same arguments about teh SL65 AMG and the likes, even the new M5/M6 motor. But no one is puting them up on some sorta unbeatable pedastal of rightousness and god like status. People are treating the Z06 like it is an unbeatable supercar. The problem is, Chevy is also marketing it as one. You need to get into the mindset of someone who is buying a super car. If you have some guy who has muchos cash, and is trying to decide between the Corvette and the slower Ferrari, they are gonna take the Ferrari. Its the same thing that killed the Supra. They were marketing the Supra to the crowd of people who had wanted a 'Vette since they were knee high to a duck, and know have the money to get one. Instead of going after the Mustang/F-body crowd, they went after the people who wanted the 'Vette only cuz its what they had wanted their entire life. The crowd that Chevy is going after now with the Z06 is the crowd that has wanted a Ferrari/Lambo/ Porsche their entire life. And its gonna hurt them in the end.
Anyways, back on topic, it was awesome to see one in action. Sounded mean too. And I exagerated when I said roasted the tires, but he was spinning about half way through the intersection.
However....You can take your Ferraris, Lambos, and Z06s and shove it. I'll take the Ruf Rt12, thank you very much. 11.0 flat 1/4 mile out of a three liter motor...yes please.

because they aren't goingto succeed, these people probably wanted a ferrari since they were young so they'll buy one once they have the money, not the z06.
on the subject of horsepower, if you turbocharge the corvette, i bet that thing'll have at least 700hp, probably more. and that would cost, what, $10,000 at most (including exhaust, injectors, the works).
I wish i had the money for one, but sadly very few seniors in high school do.

and he said it would cost at the minimum of 10k$ to put it all on, all in all he's sick of his low 12 second Rx-7 and wanted something w/ more torque and better gas-mileage
and according to honda guys, the replacement for displacement is volumetric efficiency, i agree, but the 2 liter in my friend's VR-4 Galant is def. not as torquey as my v6 is at 2.5k rpm, and right now he should put a few lenghts on me

Turbocharging or supercharging the LS7 is almost outta the question.
At least until there are heads that will lower that compression ratio down some from the 11:1.
