Wtf Is Goin On!?!?!?

My Brother just bought a 1997 TSI AWD and we have had it for less than a week. Last night I was driving it on the highway, cruisin in fifth gear at about 70 mph. a couple times after a hill or after passing a truck or car it would pop out of gear and the revs would shoot up before i got off the gas or the cruise control. My brother asked me today after he drove it why it kept falling out of fifth gear so it was happenening to him to.. i have no idea... i hope someone hear does know why, and that its not a major problem

My guess the syncros are bad. Person who owned it before must of been doing some stupid 5th gear jamming.
