I was reading threads and I heard about someone wanting to upgrade their rearview mirror and the pins being different. Well, I did so myself but I got a mirror from a 94 Buick and put it in my 92, I got the 94 mirror because the pins are the same and I didn't want to modify the wiring. Now all is done and works BUT----How do you calibrate the compass, there is a little hole for reset under the mirror but don't know what to do from there to set the compass properly, and where and which position do I mount the square box for the compass? example (windshield/mirror/etc) I just don't know what it attaches too! Many thanks!!!

I believe that compass sensor goes attached to the windshield right next to where the mirror is attached to the glass. I wanted to update the mirror on my 92' also, but I simply changed the mirror to an electrochromatic (without the compass) so I'm not sure how to calibrate it

Ok, got the box mounted - all good there! Does anyone have a 94-ish Park Ave. with the compass display on the rearview mirror? If so please check your car manual on how to cali. it, I'm tired of going west and it says north! LOL! If not, I'm off to the junkyard to find a manual! :iceslolan

Hey Cntrysthbst
My mother in law has a 99' Suburban with that same mirror you have with the compass, I'll check her manual to see if there's anything about it in there

Many thanks!!!! The back of the mirror has 2 wire hook ups, one w/ 2 pins and 1 w/ 4 pins, it's just like the mirror I had in there, all the wiring was the same all I did was just plug it in and it worked, I'm not sure but I think the newer ones like past 96 have the 7 pin connectors, just wondering if that would make a difference. I will be more than happy to give it a shot! Thanks again! Rob

Figured it out, once the mirror is properly set, push the calibrate button on the bottom, (may need to use a pen), and the compass indicator will read C, just drive it around going in all directions and it will calibrate, and then display normal. I did this before but it didn't work, I have a radar detector that comes on and goes off automatically which I believe prevented the compass from calibrating because after I turned it off it calibrated after driving in all directions. Thanks for the help!
