good metal polish?

well i just got my 14b in the mail today, Its a kinda dirty, is there any good polishes that anyone has used to make it look almost new/ decent??

I tried that, but it didn't help too much. Probably because I didn't try real hard, but is there anything else?

Ahh not that I know of, you can go to Wal-mart and ask. We use brasso for a great many of things in the military. And if you can't polish it with brasso it doesn't need to be polished. hehe.

Get mothers mag and aluminum polish, that stuff will make anything shine. If its really dirty you might have to take some sandpaper to it first and then go back and polish it.

I never thought of sand paper, maybe ill try that! Hopefully it works.

When I was selling my T25, I bought one of those sanders you attach to your drill. It will rip any discolored metal right off. Also try that with your valve cover if that's dirty too :p

Since aluminium is a soft metal that oxidates very easily, polishing it by hand will not give it a long lasting "chrome" like shine. The best method to polish aluminium is by machine. You must first use a aggresive cutting wheel with a coarse compound block, my favorite is Jacksonlea's tripoli 7(Brown block). The more time you spend with the cut, the longer the shine will last. The cutting block will create different tones in the aluminium so you would next need to use a finishing wheel w/a colouring block compound, I'd recomend Jacksonlea's 21Deluxe (Green Block). This will make your aluminium look like chrome. Polishing any metal by hand is a good method if it's not being exposed to an outside environment, otherwise it will oxidize much faster then if done by machine. Check www.jacksonlea.com for product information, I used to polish aluminium truck/coach rims in my early 20's using jacksonlea's products.

BTW, never use any de-greaser/engine cleaner on polished aluminium, it will turn it white and you'll have to re-polish.
