loose shifter/broken

I beleive that the shifter is detached from its mounting

1993 mx3 standard 4 cylinder

The shifter is loose and moves up and down. I think there is a rubber vulcanized bracket that wears in time.

Can anybody advise me in its replacement and parts selection. Are there any tricks to removing the trim, shifter, the boot etc that I may need to do? Will I need to work under the car or can it be done from above. Are there any other parts that wear that I should replace while working in the area?

Thanks for the sharing of your knowlege and expierience....

Kurt

I just bought a Mazda and it has the exact same problem you are having. I cannot find a solution. Any help around here please ?
