i've had this truck for three years and luckily havn't had any problems whatsoever and just last week this started.
when i start the engine if i try to shift into drive from park, the shift lever wont move. the only way i can get the shift lever to move from park is to turn the car off and then move the lever just slightly away from park, about a quarter of the way and then start the engine, i can then freely move the shifting lever to any of the driving modes. also i can freely move the shifting lever to all of the modes while the car is off. no clue when that started but i assume its related. any help would be very appreciated and if you need any more info please ask and i will repost.

Check the brake light switch and the wiring connector going to it. It may also be a blown fuse.
