First of all, why do you guys make fun of everyone who posts about windshield washer lights? Just because you don't like them doesn't mean everybody else shouldn't. Your comments aren't solving any problems
Now, on to the problem at hand, what exactly do you mean by battery operated? The car battery or AA or 9V batteries? I've never seen them made that way, but I haven't been shopping around for them. I would recommend hooking them up with a manual switch so you can shut them off if you want to. A lot of cops don't like them. If you wire them to you headlights, you will have to shut off your headlights to turn off your windshield washer lights. Just a suggestion...
Here's a cheap schematic type thing I just made up if they are car battery operated. It might help you visualize what you need to do if you want to run a manual switch.

I used to sell aftermarket parts , and we did have washer lights too... I have never seen one that operated on a 9v battery. We sold like 6 diff types (boss frequented taiwan ALOT), and they are all the same: red wire positive, black negative. I would also recommend wiring them to a switch so that you can turn them off. People have told me stories about gettin 50$ tickets for them (they were blue).

here is the website that i ordered the washer lights from:
JCWHITNEY.com
and this is what it says when u get ready to oreder the lights...
WINDSHIELD WIPER AND WASHER LED LIGHTS
A whole new way to customize and light up the outside of your car
Run on batteries (included)
Sold in pairs.
So it says runs on batteries ... i dunno - if anyone can help me and tell me if that means i dont need to have them hooked up to the head lights let me know.
And for installation do i just pop the old washer things out and ut the new ones in?

well what we did is hooked them up to the parking lights. Just find the hot wire that runs to your parking lights in the front, wire the positive to them, and then wire the negative to any negative wire you can find. Viola! :)

Go take a chill pill, man. He's just asking advice for the best way to do it before fuking something up. If you don't like the post, nobody is forcing you to post in it
And about the lights, I still have not heard of ANY that run on sep batteries. Did you get the nozzle lights or the wiper blade lights? Those might run on tiny batteries in which case you wouldn't have to hook them up. My advice is wait until you get them and check them out for yourself. Maybe a typo on the site you ordered them from ;)
If you need any more help, you can PM me and you won't have to deal with these people who criticize your style and opinion.

I will probably do washer lights soon also. They are on sale at Autozone for $10. As far as wiring goes, I hope they come with instructions, I will probably wire them to the parking lights, although it would be cool to wire them to an independent switch so I could leave them on while parked and hanging out with other ricers for that show effect.
Also dont trip about those washer nozzle haters. Your car, your desicion.

The washer lights themselves are not illegal. It's not like selling herion. They are perfectly legal as long as they are used for offroad or show purposes. They are illegal for use on public roads. But you'll have the best time with Red or Blue washer lights because any civilian vehicle adorned with red or blue lights that are visible towards the front of the vehicle can be penalized for impersonating an emergency vehicle.
But you're right tho. If you like them, then get them. It's your car.

I will believe that, especially the blue ones. If I were to get them I would try to get either yellow or white.

It's legal to sell it, but like the package ALWAYS seems to say "for offroad use only".
And about the emergency vehicle thing: I honestly did not believe it at first because I thought it was an excuse for harassment. But then this one guy came in and told me that is what the cop said, and then the cop proceeded to pull out a booklet and show him the violation. This was in MD, but it would probably be true in all states.

It's certainly true in Indiana...I'm sure it's a law everywhere.
I've seen people get tickets for undercar neon and neon dice that are blue or red. Hyperwhite turn signals also. I'm back to using good ole' amber bulbs. Now people can finally see which direction I'm signaling during the day.

im not hating. its just that washer leds are riceboy mods. its like "wow i got ten bucks lets try to make my car original by making it look like every other car on the road, instead of saving my money and spending it on real, coherant mods that dont look like afterthoughts". ok i guess i am hating. not on you, but more on the washer lights. i apologize that you are associated with my subjective rant but please dont take it for anything more than it is.

and also, i dont know the answer to your question, but i do know the reason that some states issue tickets is because blue lights resemble those on emergency vehicles, and it is illegal to impersonate them. thats all i know, sorry i couldnt be more help

impersonating an officer. - you cant have blue lights on your car ANYWHERE (reserved for emergency vehicles) and you cant have red on anything but the taillights. (again, reserved for emergency vehicles)
i had red front turn signals for about 3-4 months, cop in NY told me to get em changed "asap" 'cuz they arent legal (for formentioned reasons)

I hooked mine up to the "cars battery", I havent seen any that run on little batteries.... I have them connected there, and then run a switch into the car to turn them on and off. I also connected one of the cables (cant remember which) to the turn signal lamp, so when I put the blinker on, the lights blink too. Why would you even think someone wastes their time with little batteries for the lights, thats not practical, heh.:bloated:

I wired mine to a switch that runs inside my car, its also connected to all the neons under the seats. At the flip of a switch I'm glowin! I only turn any lights on when I am parked and chillin. I don't know how people drive around with neons all around em, its so distracting. Yeah, I got a $92 fine in Carlisle for those bad boys. (If you saw the white Civic on the side of road lit by the PA Troopers spot light you shoulda said hi!) I had em on inside the grounds and I forgot to turn em off when I left, when I saw the cop directing traffic I though "oh shit i got my lights on, those are illeagal, I better turn em off" as soon as i flicked the switch he shined the light in my eyes and told me to pull over. Turns out if I wouldn't haved turned em off I would have just got a warning. But since I turned them off that is an addmitance of guilt to an office(same as slammin on your brakes when flyin past a cop staked out) Stay legal kids, its not worth it!

that might be the most intelligent neon user i've ever met. bravo. good idea using a switch and even better idea only using them when you're parked. i dont necessarily like neons, but i like you're thinking...
as far as legality: i am 100% sure red and blue are illegal. and in some states any lighting on the top of the car (not used off-road) is illegal. if you want to find out about your state, call your local DMV. i used to have a pair of these lights, they were red and i also have red turn signals so it was a nice little combo. and i wont lie, when i first saw these lights i thought they were neat. its jsut all these dang ghetto rides and minivans pimping them that make them gay.i also hate the chrome housing ones...EW
hooking them up: i wired mine to the wires under my driverside dash. (mine came on with my parking lights)

Thanks.
Some freinds of mine got neons and they got an adapter that spilts the cigarette lighter, then they hooked all their lights up to that. I always thought it looked sloppy, and you got no cigarette lighter. So I just got some stereo cable and started twisting wires. I hid all the wires under carpeting and whatever trim was handy. As for wiring the washer led's:
I trimmed one of the cables and hooked it to the other set so I had less to worry about. Then I got stereo cable, hooked it one to the +, and the + lights to the other. I ran that cable through the firewall to the switch, and grounded it with the wire that was left over from the lights. Then later I added the interior lights by splicing them on. Its not hard at all, I did it and i don't know anything. PM for any questions on the confusing explanation I gave.

Yeah i'm a newbie and just wanted to let you know how this forum helped me and hopefully i can help you (screw everyone who has nothing good to say about washerlights just cause your ride looks wack with them don't mean a damn thing to me now that i got that off my chest) i first had washer lights with 2 wires (black and white)
all i did was found my parking light wire under the hood and another wire to use as a ground. thats all but finding the right wire is the fun part.
but last week (when i found this site) i had bought a new set because my old ones burnt out. so i got the white ones that look like the xenon bulbs (white with a hint of blue i argued with a cop he said they are blue i said they were white and bottom line he said to change them but i never did and never got a ticket and i've had them for over a year now but thats in miami but if you ever see the blue ones you can tell the difference so i still think i'm right :D )
back to the lights yeah so i got new ones and they had 3 wires (red/black/white) the black and the white i just spliced(twisted the ends together) and connected the same way but i could have looked for my signal wire and put the white to that then they would blink with my signals but i didn't want that effect so i did it my way. well hope this helps in anyway :smoker2:
