Seafoam

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I put it here.

Would it be OK to u se SeaFoam in 1 cyl. engines like 4 wheelers and such without harm?

Should be ok, but I guess it depends on which SeaFoam product you're using.

I’ve heard lots of good stuff, supposedly it’ll clean the piston tops. You’re suppose to have it sucked in thru the brake vacuum line then shut off the car for an hour & when you restart it, it’s going to create a whole lot of white smoke out the tail pipe. While I hear lots of good stuff about it still scares me to try it because I’m worried about hydro locking my engine. Also, now that I think about it, I’m worried about my catalytic converter. But like I said I hear lots of good stuff about it. Maybe I'm just worry wort. :dunno:

If you do it tell us how it goes, & check your sparkplugs after.

I use it ever other month. I stick the brake booster line in till it sucks out about half the bottle, then jam it in there and stall it out. Let it sit for 15 minutes or so and go for a fun(smokey) drive.

I don't imagine it would hurt a 1cyl engine at all. Make sure you suck enough up to stall it out, so it doesn't burn it all away before you can kill the engine.

I hesitate putting anything into the engine that isn't put there by the factory. As for your cat after it runs well go for a VERY HARD drive it will help clean the cat out.

You're gonna need to pour a lot of it in to even come anywhere near hydrolocking your engine.

and by a lot I mean liters and liters of it.

EDIT: and seeing as this stuff burns so quickly, I would imagine it'd be nearly impossible to hydrolock with it, even if you tried.

I agree. Today's engines are extremely hard if not impossible to hydrolock.

hydrolocking is seizing the engine using water. Water isn't combustible, which makes hydrolocking possible. Seafoam is combustible, so you can't hydrolock(waterlock) your engine, just stall it out.
