polyurethane bushing sleeve

ok, i just bought a energy suspension polyurethane master bushing kit... i have read a coulpe things saying you keep the sleeve to the old bushing in the part, then burn the rubber out, then just put the poly bushing in.... is that true? if i did it that way would i still need a press to press in the poly, or just a torch and a little muscle?

For what part of the car are u talking about?id get it done the right way and get it pressed in.i wouldnt use a torch to put the bushings in but to get the old ones out using atorch is fine

I have done them both ways. Removing the old sleeve, and then installing the poly bushing. As well as melting the rubber out. I have not noticed a difference in either one, except time to get the old out.

ok, well, i read on this site that you have to use the old bushing's sleeve, like the oem rubber bushings, the outside metal part that is pressed in... you have to reuse that

so what i got from reading that article, i had to just take the whole part off, like lower control arm, burn the bushing out(just the rubber center) and put the poly in the old sleeve

Maybe that article was totally wrong, i dont know, im just confused.
