94 Blazer keeps draining battery, won't stay running..Help, please

My 94 Blazer won't stay running. It keeps draining the battery, I had the alternator replace (which everyone said was the problem) but it will only run a little while and then you have to boost it off again. I just can't afford another mechanic bill (alternator replacement was over $200 and no fix).
Please tell me it is something a lady can fix, lol.

Welcome to the board.

(alternator replacement was over $200 and no fix).

They are expensive alternators, but for a 94 I would have installed a recently re-built used one. The wreckers are full of these trucks.
The job isn't even a 1/2 hours work for most alternators, so the labor isn't the issue here.

I can't say for sure, but I'd be leaning towards the starter going.
I don't knw why, but some starters just kill the battery when they are shot. And yet they still start the car like normal when they have the juice.

If it is the starter it's a bit of a pain, but we'll tell you how to replace it.

I agree with Overboardproject...
Also, How Old is your Battery? Are the Battery Cables clean? Did anyone load test it?

you said "I had the alternator replaced (which everyone said was the problem) but it will only run a little while and then you have to boost it off again". Did they (machanics) test the Charging system to determine the Alternator was bad. A dead cell in a battery will drain all the power out of it and act the same way as you describe...

So the engine will just die?

Thanks for all the advice! Had the battery tested and was told it was good but when I bought the blazer the battery had to be charged and had very little water in it but I thinking like you, it still may not hold a charge. Just got off work but will try a new battery first, if it doesn't solve the problem I'll be back for help with the starter.
Again thanks so much for the help.
I knew I came to the right place!!
I will keep you posted and wish me luck :)
