no crank no start

03 2500hd never had a problem intill tonite. went to the store came out 1/2 hour later won't start. just a click from the r/s of the firewall tried a different key, jump start, cleaned cables on both batteries, had my brother inlaw try to start it and no click at all from the starter but heard a click from some sort of soleniod on the firewall on right side i tried to jump the to large wires on it with the key on but no help. i'm going to get it home tomorrow and check with voltmeter test light etc. anyone have this problem before?

I'm not sure if this applies to you, but I had the same problem. It happened when I opened the door with the key instead of the key fob. Try unlocking the doors with the key fob and then starting it, it worked for me. The aftermarket setup on my 2000 Silverado has to have a little button pushed in if you unlock the door with the key instead of the fob. I'm not sure this is your case, but thought I'd throw my $.02 in.

the lite was never flashing. didn't get a chance to mess with it intil friday and it has started every time since.

Sounds like a starter defect. Aren't the solenoids on the starter themselves?? :dunno:

Could be the ignition switch, but I really don't know any way to check it aside from throwing down a couple hundred for a replacement.
