Need Ideas For Engine Swaps

Okay folks, I need a few new engine swap ideas for my 1986 Fiero GT. I posted this car for sale a few months back on here and a gentleman responded, and was going to trade a nice motorbike for it, but all of a sudden he dissapeared and I got bored with the car sitting in my driveway, so I gutted it. With the help of two friends we had the engine and tranny out in a couple of hours. Now the idea is to figure out a good engine to put in it, and a matching or useable tranny.
I have been told by several people to drop in a 3100 that I already have in a Lumina...the engine was new and the car was wrecked suddenly, but it still runs like a brand new car, and the transmission is intact. would that engine match up with the Fiero's original five-speed Isuzu manual transmission (or the four-speed Muncie?) And, will a 3800 Series II work, because I have a couple of those that I need to get rid of or use for something. If anyone knows anyting about either of those two engines, their input is greatly appreciated.
As for anything else, I am open to suggestions...several ppl say to put a 350 in it, but I think I'll pass on that project for now...I dont think I have quite enough room, reinforcement, time, or money to do that little job. But if anyone wants to see it built up with Ford or Chrysler parts or even something else, email me with ideas ([email protected]), because I need all the help I can get, and god knows I'm more than willing to use something other than GM!
Anywho, just send me ideas, I'll post some pics of the car if I can, and maybe that will bring up more ideas...toodles.

I have a L67 (SC 3800) in my '86 SE. Its not the most straight foward swap but it is do able. Including the price of the motor, expect to pay around $3k. One thing I would be worried about is how long that trans will hold up behind the new found torque. The isuzu is notoriously the weakest trans. If you baby it literally all the time, it could hold up, but wheres the fun in that? ;) If you're serious about doing it, contact Loyde at fast fieros (www.fastfieros.com) He can help you with all your wiring/ecm needs for the swap and is a great guy to deal with.
