Recommended shift points for fuel efficiency

yeah, what are good shift points to keep the car in good order and to save gas? im gonna get a 2002 civic, and i was wondering about that. what RPM's should you be at and what RPMs should you shift at? someone told me you should be in 4th when you're going 35mph. is that fuel efficient? does that lug the engine at all?

I am normally hitting 80 when I hit 4th.

To get good fuel economy it has to be between not bogging the engine and not over revving the engine. I think 3500-4000 rpms is a good medium to shift to be fuel efficient.

i shift at 2 in my civic. in my old prelude i had to shift at 2.5. to get the best economy you need to shift as low as possible if im going 40 my car is in 5th unless im getting on the highway then i shift at 2.5 or so

my car is a funny little machine...when ever i am pushing it...(running it up to 5500 or 6 grand) i get good gas milage.....its weird..like 35 and 36 mpg...but when i keep it down around 3000 - 3500 i only get 30-31.. its weird....oh well

if you read the H manual it tells you the recomended shifting points...just don't hit the gas too hard and it will be fine
Something that I've been wondering is what speed do you cover the most distance in least amount of fuel in highway driving? Isn't it 60mph?
