What? A Toyota Paseo?

What would you guys think if you were at a gathering and a guy wanted to race you...in a Toyota Paseo? Seriously what would your first impression be?

My very first thought would be why am I wasting hte gas, Im gonna smoke him, followed by why am I wasting hte gas, hes probably got a 500+hp uber motor of d00m in there.

i would think he is either really stupid or really fast and sneaky.

if nobody else has bothered to check i'd like to say that the paseos have a variety of engine swaps available as well as the ability to be boosted, so though horrific and hideous, the paseo is a viable option for speed... eww ...i think they are similar to the tercel

i would race one if he had the balls

If he ditched the stock motor for the MR2 turbo motor, you'll most likely be looking at taillights, as I believe that car weighs a whopping 2300lbs (Lighter then the MR2). If he has the stock motor, he ain't sh*t, even if he is modded.

paseos are a tad lighter than the civic hatch, i've seen a 250+ hp paseo, since the paseo is so light, you can imagine how fun this 250 hp paseo would be :)

I'd take a listen to the car first. If you can't hear a turbo, you're probably good to go.

I get scared when stuff like that happens. I was out with my Formula 350 one day and this kid comes up to me with a stock looking old Civic hatch and says "I'll race you for 100 bucks"....I was like "uhhhhh I don't think so, you probably got some serious stuff done"...turned out he was completely stock lol...so I think I would just be confused if a Paseo did that to me.

Me and my buddy used to have paseo's. They were our first cars. They're slow with a measly 100 hp and 91ft/lbs of torque, however like stated above when you drop in the turbo MR2 motor, they run like bats outta hell. My buddy's friend worked at a toyota shop and picked up a motor for cheap and dropped it in the paseo. The next thing you know BOOM!!! that thing flew like abat outta hell.

So as for your question of what would you do if a paseo came up and asked you to race. I would tell him to pop his hood, and ask him what he's got. More then likely he's swapped and if not ..... well then he's just an idiot.

I mean you can't say anything, cause a stock paseo will lose to anything short of an RTD bus, and even then it's a good run.

just for the record thats my old sig referring to my old first gen neon but for those of you who dont know what it means......for them haters its basically no matter how many races I win ''IT WILL STILL JUST BE A NEON" just something I heard very often..........as for my SRT thats another story.....basically is still a neon but with heat..lol even though it has nothing on it that states its a neon but Im not going to argue that......lol....but even with the SRT I still get ''ITS OK IF I LOST ITS STILL JUST A NEON".........hahahaha what ever dogg....

I'm just giving you crap man.... You have to admit that if you got "snarfed" by a Paseo, you couldn't come up with the line, "You may have won, but it's still just a neon". Paseo's are more or less just an economy car, eventhough there were made out to be a pocket rocket originally. I still can't believe that they lived by the moniker of it having 100 horsepower LOL...

if a paseo mopped the floor with me I would give him mad props for doing so....I mean if you lose you lose and thats that....... better luck next time right.....of course I would have to stop him and see what hes runnin.....lol..but I know what you mean man......

my cuz had did a similiar swap with his first car, but it wasn't a paseo. it was a 97 tercel, had a west wings body kit that made it look like a M3, and swapped the celica gts engine in it. damn thing was wicked fast. he sold it for about 11k. that was like 3 years ago... some guy wanted it and liked it for it's neons. never did take it to the track tho. i wonder if it's still alive...
