My rims came in the mail the other day and i wanna throw them on my car but when i mentioned this to somebody at work they thaught i was crazy. They said 18's suck in the winter cause you cant steer the damn car, he has a honda civic so....im not sure if it will be the same for me. I dont plan on driving it in a blizzard or anything, but if there is a lil snow on the ground do you think ill be ok or should i wait for warm weather ?

i would worry more about tread pattern than rim size, mr civic should no be running 18's on a car that stock came with 15's. Some 3k's came with 18's on them so they are of course going to work fine. I would concern myself with the tread pattern, IMO, mount some nice tires on the 18's and some winter tires on your stockers, may cost some but its worth it in the winter to have a set of tires with some traction. I knew a guy who had what looked like truck snow tires that he slapped on his vette every winter. Crazy and cool.

Rim size doesn't matter, just tread pattern...but do you really want to put new rims on for all the salt to corrode them up in the winter?

Don't put them on. Rim size in general does kind of matter. Obviously like they said, tread pattern is HUGE. But in general 17s will perform better in teh winter than 18s. In snow you want narrower wheels, not wider. Plus salt ruins chrome wheels. So if it were me, I'd save them until spring.

I know what you mean man, Last year I got some new rims for christmas. Had them put on, and no longer after a week of having them on, it was snowing like a mofo and I collided into a curb. Bent my brand new rim. So, if I was you. I wouldnt even take your car out in the winter, im not going to. I just bought a jeep wrangler like 2 months ago, so Im ready for the winter and my baby is not moving one inch. Well, maybe... around the block when it's a nice day out.
