The car will just quit running sometimes while driving and other times it will die just after starting for a brief second. It will always restart within 15 to 30 minutes. It will sometimes restart even before I come to a stop. Once it has done this, and I restart it, I can drive it all day with no problems. It will usually do this on my way to work or on my way home from work. In a years time, that’s how long I've been chasing this problem. I've only been late for work once and that was last week.
The car has a 2.0 engine. What I have done so far is to replace the fuel regulator, the fuel injector ( it has only one on the throttle body) The fuel pump, oxygen sensor and the engine control module or computer . I know, very expensive shot gunning. I purchased a code reader and am getting no error codes since changing the oxygen sensor. I purchased a set of noid lights for testing the fuel injector and have confirmed that I am losing the signal to the fuel injector. I have installed a fuel gauge and am getting 10 psi of the 9 to 13 that my chiltons manual said that I should get. This is what I got before and after changing the fuel pump. I should have known that wouldn't work. I know it is getting spark because if I squirt a little fuel in the throttle body it will run for a brief moment. I have checked the connectors to the injector, manifold pressure, and manifold air temp sensors. I have even ohmed out the wires to these same sensors all the way back to the control module.
A friend said he thought it was maybe the crankshaft position sensor, or camshaft position sensor. Looking at the schematic in my chiltons manual I do not see theses sensors only a couple of speed sensors that I think are located on the brakes for an ABS system perhaps.

I would go with the Crank sensor... they can be little devils causing problems like that, without triggering a code.
Your car has it on the front of the engine, just above the Air compressor. You can just see it between the exhaust manifold and compressor.
I just replaced mine... Easy to get out of the block.. but some brain surgeon at GM decided to run the wire BEHIND the friggin timing belt... #@!$$"#@!$$#@#:banghead:
I wasn't going to get into that, I found that there was just enough slack to run it above the valve cover dropping it under the ALT. (the plug for the harness is under the alt.).... Much easier, but redneck as hell...LOL.
Since you've tried everything else.. I'd go with that. The part is cheap, I think mine was under $20.... just the time to install it, although the redneck way was much quicker and easier.... correctly, you might as well pick up a new timing belt and water pump while you're in there. :2cents:
