HELP dipstick

i have a 95 mustang with a 3.8 v6 an the dipstick tube is broke on it an the man working on it i think is telling me a lie an say's he has got to pull the motor out to get it out an put a new one in.if anyone knows if u do or don't please let me know.thanks

what? he told u he has to take ur moter out to put the replace the dipstick? if thats what ur saying then no...

it is the dipstick tube not the dipstick it's self

Is it broken off flush with the block? If thats the case then he will have to use some kind of punch and drive the peice of dipstick tube on into the oil pan. Then make sure he gets the peice out of the oil pan. He can unbolt the motor mounts, jack the motor up some. Then unbolt the pan, slide it out, and retrieve the end of your broken dipstick tube. Good luck. Did he brake it or did you? If he broke it then it shouldnt cost you a dime to fix.

thanks 351wstang for the help.i do not know where it is broke at i have not seen it the car is about 30 miles from where i leave.i know a little about mechanics i have a feeling he is trying to get a little more money out of me.i had him replace the heads on it.after everything is done then he tells me he has to pull the motor back out.to fix the dipstick tube

Sounds fishy. Who broke the dipstick tube? Are you sure he didnt break it somehow while he was replacing the heads? Dont let him charge you for something he screwed up.

he probaly broke it while installing the heads
