Advice for new engine

Ive been thinking about my next car for quite awhile, and I'm set on an EK hatch. But before I buy one, I was thinking about building an engine for it. Or at least upgrading one. Ill build it over the course of several months to a year. then buy an EK, swap it, and sell my current EJ6 4dr. I have the goal of totally rebuilding an older hatch. I already have suspension, brakes, exhaust, and some body peices.

Any advice? I want to go turbo eventually and I feel that building a new engine would be the best, highest quality way to do it. There wont be any rush so I can focus on doing it right.

Is it a good idea? Or should I just get a GSR engine or something.

get the hatch and dump in a GSR engine...they can make 300+whp all day on the stock engine....boost it and go!

nah get the h22a it has the same compression ratio as the b18c1 and it has 205 hp stock, plus it only weighs 50pds more, a much better swap if you ask me!

H22's are more expensive in the long run and i'd much rather have boost than an all motor car......

Im just looking for enough power to make the car fun to drive. I think the GSR engine would be good enough for awhile then I would eventually go turbo. Basically it will be a quick daily driver.

What if I got cams, intake, exhaust on the GSR? Could it hit 200hp NA?

The only problem if you get cams is that the cams are not going to work well with a turbo.....but if you did all that work, i'm sure you could hit 200whp... You'd have to build the head to handle a beefier cam and you might want to get it tuned too,......
