Leaf springs

I have a question about the leaf springs on my 2000 Silverado, aren't these supposed to be arched ? Mine are arched at both ends but the middle part ('bout 14 inches) are flat.

You can get your spring re-arched, or just get some new ones.

I think I have to get mine re-arc'd as the Passenger side leaf has a bit of a wave in it. It's not a smooth arc all the way along. However, the $445 CAN to do so has that job on hiatus right now. :(

Hey - How'd you make out with this? Did you ever get the job done? Mine look pretty flat too. Question: If replacing the leafs, would it do me any good to go to 3/4 ton leaf springs? Or would that make my truck ride a lot worse. I'm about to have the rear parking brake assembly on both wheels redone, so I might save if I do the leafs at the same time. Damn flood vehicles...:(

If your looking at replacing springs, 3/4 tons are a ton stiffer. Go with a aftermarket. Im running 7" Betts on mine and it rides better than stock. You could run Alcan or Deavers for a bit more (the Deavers are military wrapped) I paid about $560 for the Betts. The big plus with the Deavers, Betts and Alcans, is they are custom made for what you do with your ride. If you do a lot of hauling and towing they can set the rate for heavier loads, where if you barely haul or tow they can soften them for the smoothest of rides.

I hauled a whole pallet of roofing shingles in my truck over the summer. It was A LOT of weight and made the bumper go about 4" off the ground. My rear suspension has been squeaky since then.

I found a set of 2500 leaf springs that I'm installing soon, should lift the back up quite a bit. Easily haul 1 ton+ in my truck as it is!

with this job you [using old parts] will find it is not as easy as it looks..

with new springs and bushings it is an easy job.

cost for the new kit is 155.00 ..that not to bad..
