[WIP] Top Secret GT-R

hello everyone`
this is the first model i've posted on automotiveforums.com.. this is the 1/24 Aoshima Top Secret GT-R kit.. i plan to make a few modifications.. not major modifications though =P
i've been inspired by one of Top Secret's customer GT-Rs.. you may have seen photos of it before.. i'll post pictures of it up later~
Plans for this GT-R:
- Nismo Z-Tune Sideskirts (Z-Tune kit)
- Nismo 19inch LMGT4 (Z-Tune kit, but repainted black)
- Fujimi A'PEXi N1 Metal Exhaust (Not sure if i can still get them..)
- Sprayed in Bayside Blue (TS-50 Mica Blue..)
- Carbon Fibre'd Bonnet & GT2 Wing (maybe i'll try to carbon fibre the front lip and rear diffuser aswells.. i'll see! ahah)
- Other then that.. it'll be pretty much box stock~ =P

i have a question.. i wanna spray my GT-R in that Bayside blue... but i've realised TS-50 out of the can comes out much darker then that..So i was thinking.. would it be better if i :

they arent street legal. they have to be modified to meet US crash saftey standards and EPA regulations....and right now, the only company that was able to do the modifications needed has stopped legalizing cars as of late. check over at the nissan skyline - united states forum for more info.

yeah dudes MotoRex was the only company that legalized Skylines and now the only way to do it is to buy one that already went thru MotoRex before it was closed or you could be dumb and get it illegaly shipped over and risk the chance of getting caught.

This must be where all the n00bs post. Lookin good. For the color, might wanna use a dark colored primer/base coat. The TS-50 does look nice on its own. It's just the skyline should be a little darker then the paint right outta the can. Gook luck.

becuase...up until last years models i believe it was...its always been the fastest stock car to come out, made for racing...comes equipt with turbo and supercharge, the car is amazing, n look at it, if u love custom cars with body kits etc, its the car to get, cuz u don't even need to put a kit on it, it already looks amazing...has to be ur kinda car tho...its not for everyone...but its by far the best car in my eyes

The only factory turbo charged and supercharged engine I know of is a new 4 cylinder VW. Skylines are turbo'd...
The R34 is definately one of my favorite cars. Yes, it has it's draw backs, mainly price, complexity (so much electronics!!!) and weight. But, with AWD, all wheel steering (sweet!), a very strong engine, awesome looks, and legendary status, I would want one over almost anything offered right now in the US... if I had the cash :uhoh: LOL. (Well, almost....) But, like everything else, it comes down to personal choice... I sure would like one!

yeh... the variable AWD is a AWSOME feature... gives ur the best of both worlds... also... for the power of a supra engine vs a skyline... i dont think that they have quite been able to reach the power marks of a skyline with the supra inline 6... the RWD and long wheel base hurt the car... though the width helps a little... its much less stable and controlable in a tight course... personaly stock vs almost stock... (the GT-R must be tweaked a tad because jap. regulates the HP a engine can put out... so the stock GTR has 265 but the engine is capable of 400 strait out of the factory with a boost change i think) anyway... i think that the GT-R R34 would smoke a Supra TT...

supras are constantly being blown pass 1000hp, but as far as whos got the most power out of one? i dont know. i do know that the veilside GT-R is rockin 1600 hp, but who knows.

yea man ur car is lookin sick...what colour u doin it? when i originally saw it, i thought u had only done the first coat of like a metallic grey, like a stealth black color or sumthin,...now its primered? lol wuts up man

haha! nah.. the first picture was after i sanded down the mouldlines.. the gold that the shell was moulded in looked horrible after sanding!~ so after i took the picture i just shoved it through photoshop and desaturated it! AHHA
but yeh i plan to paint it the bayside blue from the ref pic i posted? i have an idea how its going to be.. but not sure which way to do it.. so i'll be trying the paints on spare styrene or soemthing first.. the blue appears to be more pearl'ish and lighter then the TS-50 (Mica Blue).

yo man, sorry for the confusion~ the GTR is just sitting upon the base of my 350Z... that isnt the base for the GTR... ahha just using the other base for photography purposes~ =)

haha, yea, i was getting confused too when i saw the dual exhaust on it. I was like "is he really gonna leave the body kit hanging over the right exhaust?" lol...still looking good though man

Finally after a long time (School).. i have some progress on the body and hood... LOLS
im having trouble with cf'ing my hood..

atm, i've cf'ed the hood.. but it looks horrible close up.. so i was wodnering how do i remove decals? it's been applied with Mr.Mark Setter and softened with Mr.Mark Softer... can anyone help me?
on the exterior.. im still yet to cf the rear diffuser, the front lip aswell as the GT2 Wing...as well as painting the window trims and i still want to spray my LMGT4's semi gloss black.. (but i dont know how to strip the factory coat of silver off?)
there is not clear coat on it yet... just 3 coats of Mica Blue ontop of 3/4 Coats of Pearl White.

to remove the PLATING from the wheels dump them in bleach and water.
you can remove decals by dumping the whole thing in brake fluid, but all the paint will come off.
btw it looks good.

i dont think there is a easy way to get off the decal without messing up the paint a little. Id say strip it and try again, body color looks good.

Hey nice build. That combo of pieces is extremely well combined. Hey, I was going to tell you, that maybe you can use the Original Blue Monterrey from the Nissan 350 Z. It's lighter then Mica Blue.

UPDATE!
BIG disaster everyone... whilst trying to apply cf decal onto the hood..i accidentally melted/deformed the Top Secret hood (with a hairdryer).. so now i'll have to use the Nismo hood instead~
but anyways! i stripped the plating off the LMGT4's and primed and painted them semi gloss black!~

Yikes! Sucks about the hood, though the Nismo hood looks cool too. IMHO the wing is a bit tall, but you build it how you want. :)

Wow, did you deformed the hood with the hairdryer? How was that. I always use hairdryers for dry the water after the wash, and NEVER has been deformed. What was the material of the previous hood??

Great project! Pity about the hood. The pic of the blue GTR that inspired you featured in an Australian import magazine. That car is a beast! (it also has the very rare HKS V-Cam on a Top secret RB28 engine)
I hope the rest of the build falls together alot easier.

Hey everyone ~ thanks for the comments!
im thinking of giving up CF'ing the hood.. i think i'll just paint it bodycolour! it appears to be too difficult for me to CF the hood...so instead of wasting so many pieces of CF decals.. ahah anyways! i'd just cf the wing and stuff... LOLS show u pics when i get some updates! thanks for the comments once again!
