New Parts

Well, i sold my 97' hatch and with the money i decided to do some upgrading to the ole sol. While my ex had the car, the clutch amaziling got all screwed up. Seriously, it was going bad anyhow. I think the pressue plate is all screwed up or either the throwout bearing. When i push in the clutch at high rpm's it acts like i didnt even push it in...does absolutley nothing. I already checked the master and slave clyinder and they are working fine. But it doesn't matter anyhow, because i just recieved my new driveline parts. I decided to go with an exedy chromoly flywheel (9 lbs) and an act HDSS clutch and pressure plate. To top it all off, I ordered a civic type R trans with an integra type R final drive. (4.785 vs 4.400) So the acceleration will be a lot better, but gas mileage will of course suffer a tad. But you have to give something up. I am really looking foward to the LSD in the corners. I guess we will see what it can do. Hopefully if all goes well, she will be up and running again this saturday. I will keep you guys posted.

Well, we were so slow at work on friday that i decided to install the whole deal then. Installation was a brezze. The only problem i had was the rear mount didn't want to line up right with the new transmission. But a little persuasion fixed that problem perfectly. The clutch is awesome. I would highly recommend it to anyone. It grabs when you want it to, or it can be as smooth as a stock clutch if you go easy on it. The flywheel...well i can't really comment on that one yet, as i haven't been able to get on her due to the break in period o the new clutch. But as i can tell, it seems more responsive. It is a little touchy and takes only minimal skill to get used to. Overall i am very happy with the setup. The transmission made the car feel like a new animal. Around the corners the thing just pulls like it never could before. Acceleration is a lot smoother and faster. By far, this is the best performance mod i have ever done to my car thus far. That might change though when my suspension comes around. :)
