hey guys,
i need some help and any advice would be great. Yesterday as i was pulling into my aptartment a noticed a burning smell coming into my car. The smell wasnt the smell of electrical(or not what i could tell) but pretty bad. SO i turned off my car and my heater continued blowing? This was rather strange to me. So today as I was ready to leave for work i didnt notice the smell so i continued driving. It didnt take too long and the smell started filling the car again. SO i parked it for the night. Ive checked all my fluids, had an oil change recently. No idea where to go from here. On advice from a friend, i went to take the fuse out of my fuse box to the Heater, was just going to try and go without it to see if that was it, when i looked in the fuse box, there wasnt a fuse in its spot? It is it running directly? Im am totally lost, i dont know all the much about cars so any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have received a Recall Notice for my car in the past but havent had time to take it in. The Recall was for "Ignition Circuit Thermal Event". Does this have anything to do with what is happening?
Thanks for any and all help.

Ignition Circuit thermal event? Sounds like GM discovered that something will burn/melt in your steering column....definately take it in for the recall.

Get the recall done,I've heard that this can burn your car to the ground.

Fuckin A kid, if you cant help anyone why do you post? A one word answer with no explanation isnt worth the space on AF's server. Post count doesnt mean anything, no one will respect you more because you have 170 of these gay ass little posts racked up.
Anyway, from what I understand, the Ignition Thermal Circuit Event or what ever you want to call it has to do with current flowing through the ignition without the key in, and if I remember right it only happens to some cars after they try to start their car and hear a clicking sound. I doubt its the ignition thats burning, especially after the car started again later. I would definately get that recall done anyway, and have them look to see whats burning while they are in there.

The dealer installs a relay which tells me that the starter is like on a direct route which when you keep cranking(if car doesn't start)the wire will get hot enough to catch fire.

it can be caused by a few things but usually the heater core starts to go bad and coolant gets into the system from that somehow, i had the same problem with my old camaro rs , i swear that thing broke down every day litteraly!

ding ding
the recall could be your problem... but if your not having any starting problems then its prolly not..
id say ya got a dead animal in your heater core or something lol
my cava car is an 98 and hasnt had the recall done ever and it doesnt do anything like that..
I think the recall is closed around here.
oh yeah, id give it a good inspection... like around your exhaust system, plastic bags smell really nice :) ... oil on your valve cover... shit like that.
