Does anyone know what this switch is for. I have a 96 Jeep Cherokee. I have no reverse. Could this be the problem.

Well, the name pretty much says it. It's a switch that prevents you from starting your vehicle in gear. On an automatic, it's called the neutral safety switch. You must be in Park or Neutral to start. The NSS also
controls the reverse lights. It's located on the transmisson housing.
If your problem is no reverse LIGHTS, this could be the problem. Of course, there could be many other causes too.
If your problem is you have no reverse GEAR, then you'll need to look elsewhere.
