On my escort, my rear defrost button has pushed into my dash. Does anyone know of an easy way to get it out instead of disassembling the whole dash?

You will need to partially remove the dash. Its simple.
All you need is a small screwdriver for about 6 screws.
The dash does not come off entirely unless you drop the steering wheel (4 bolts to unscrew - also an easy job).
You will be able to access the clip holding the defrost button after loosening the dash.

I pretty dumb when it comes to stuff like this, but where exactly are the screws located?

You will need to remove part of the dash in order to find out why it fell through to begin with. Maybe just a retaining clip or some plastic may have broke. I'll take some picture later to show where the screws are located. Accounting, Eh? My wife did that for 20 years until she almost lost her mind during tax season :bloated:

Anniepooh,
Let me know if you want to tackle this job and I'll give you detailed instructions. May be a little harder than it looks because you may have to drop the steering column down off it's mount.

Yes, I need to do this because in the mornings I have to take a bowl of water and put it on my back windshield because I can't see it. I just don't want to screw something up and then not be able to fix it...I just need to know where the screws are at to do it...thanks again aztumbleweed.

I think it fell thru because you had to hold the button in the first place to get the thing to work. I think the spring was bad to begin with. The kids were holding it at the time when the button went all the way thru. I think they may have held it too hard...yeah accounting. I enjoy working with numbers but it can be a pain in the azz!!! But, that's what I have my degree in so I might as well use it while I have a chance....everyone needs one during tax season...yah!!! I can't wait (really I can) :-)
