73 bumper on 72 mounts

can a 73 bumper be mounted on a 72 bumper mount? i like the look of the 73 bumper, but i dont want it to stick out so far so i was thinking about findign some 72 or earlier bumper brackets to mount the 73 bumper on so it woudl tuck it in closer to the body, can this be done? thanks -danny

I have a 73 also and am wondering the same thing. I went to a junkyard and looked at a 68 bracket set up. The 73 brackets are alot bigger. i am thinking that things might have to be cut and rewelded. I think the brackets are the same from 68 to 72 and then change in 73.
I am thinking i will have to cut and reweld the rear bumper to. I don't like the filler panels and want the bumpers moved in.

I think it would be easier to work with the older brackets then the 73 brackets.
