While changing a spark plug, one broke completely off with the thread still in block. 4.3l v-6
What can be done to remove it?

Never seen or heard of that happening before.
I would try pulling the center out with a needle nose vice grips or something.
Then see if you can use an easy out in the hole that you should have there
Good Luck man, you need it.

Are you saying just the top white porcelain top broke off? If so just continue removing it like normal. As long as your plug socket can fit, you can back it out.

I kinda hope that's where it broke LT, but for some reason I think that it must be worst than that.
If you can't get it out with the easy out go talk to either a body man or a top notch welder about using a plasma cutter to take it out. Or they might be able to weld a nut on the broken plug.
They might not be able to do anything, but you never know without asking.
If none of this works then your stuck pulling the head.
If it isn't on the motor you should be able to get the plug drilled out.
But if you drill it out with the head on you'll have lots of little filings in your cylinder without any way to get them out.

If the nut portion broke off from the threads, you will need to use an easyout to remove it (kinda like a reverse thread tap)
If the easy out doesn't work then you will have to drill and retap the hole

If the nut portion is gone then also you should remember to use anti-seize on the plug threads so this NEVER happens again.

I would not recommend using an easy out.. I've seen them do more harm than good a few times. My last experience with one showed that they are made with the finest of japanese hardened cheese.
Try getting yourself a super out. It's something you pound in and turn as opposed to the reverse thread.

Here is what came out with the socket

Here is what was left in the head

I let my mechanic get it out. Didn't want to F it up any more. Well, The money I save with the DIY tuneup went to get this out. He used some heat and an ez-out.
Damn emmision tests.
I did use antiseize the last time I changed them. Oh, well.

It sure was. I don't drive the truck that much so I hadn't changed them in about 4 years. I guess I will have to change them more often.

I think you might have coolant getting into that cylinder.

I saw this on another forum about a week ago. Just for the heck of it what brand plugs are these?? I have never seen plugs break like this before. To your knowledge, was any anti seize used on them?

He said there was but by looking at the rust, I think a coolant issue has raised its head.

GRR that same thing happened to me on my 92 blazer. Got down to the last plug...middle one on the passenger side and snap! There was like nothing left of this plug either, I mean the nut portion of it was like rotted away, it was very very thin or something, had a hard time even getting the socket to grip and when it did it snapped it right off like paper. All the others were tough to get out but they did all come out w/o breaking. The electrodes were gone on all of em, I think they were original plugs, the previous owners failed to ever change them I think. But what got me was the way that last 1 was like rotted away even on the outside, the nut portion was like paper thin or something, it was really really weird. Anyone ever see that before, where the outside portion like rots?

never seen that happen.
But I work with more Diesels than gas motors these days
On my 1927 Esses the plugs hadn't been removed in probably 20+ years, and although I had to soak 2 or 3 in penetrating oil they all came out easily enough.

I could only bring the Blazer with me to Vancouver Island so all my toys are on hold until spring. Unless I move back to the dry Okanagan where they are
I prefer the 27 over the 29, and they'll both have their own feature page when done
I just looked and the only pictures of the 27 motor are of the distribubter and carb, and the 29 didn't come with a motor.

I've never seen one of those before.. It would be nice as hell if you restored it back to working condition along with a nice paint job.

They'll both be in working condition as soon as I can afford to finish them.
The problem is that I'm not a restoration kind of guy. The 27 4 door will hopefully look pretty stock, except for the wheels but it just wouldn't be mine without a 250+hp V8.
On the plus side for I've both given away some parts to people that needed them for their restoration, and sold the starter to someone that needed it to finish his car. So I don't feel bad Plus I'm keeping the rest of the parts, and not modifying anything except 1 already twisted frame. So any future restorers will have a good base to start with.

Coolant? Could be an issue since it does use some.
Need a new head gasket?

Need a new head gasket?
Seeing the amount of rust yes I think you might need to get some pressure testing done.
Could be intake gasket or the head gasket.
