Well, last night i cleaned out the EGR valve, but this morning i still got the CEL, when i started the car. I think it looks like maybe i need to buy a new EGR valve. Reading through the FAQs it looks like the circuit could be damaged on it.

Did you clear the CEL after you cleaned the EGR valve or are you saying that the CEL was still lit when you started the engine after the cleaning? Simply cleaning a dirty EGR valve will not automatically clear a CEL, you either have to wait for a certain number of diagnostic cycles with the condition not present or disconnect the battery for a few minutes.

I did reset the CEL. when i started the car it came on again. it only happens if the car has been standing for several hours and the temp goes down. The pinto in the EGR valve moves fine, doesnt seem to be stuck... also the gasket under the EGR valve is cracked in half, maybe this is the problem.

I am going to pull it off tonight one more time have another look, and try to clean it again.

Also i did notice that the plug on the wiring harness did have some of that greenish corrosion on it, i cleaned it a bit, but I am thinking it might go deeper then what i could clean. any ideas?

how hard is it to disconnect the wiring harness and replace it.?

any suggestions for good on-line sites for Isuzu parts?
