is it worth it 97 wrangler?

i am looking into buying a 1997 jeep wrangler with 150,000 miles, a 4 in lift, exaust and 35inch tires and more, it is also a four cylinder. it is goin for about $$6,900. i was wondering if that is a good price for the jeep. also i am 19yrs old and would like the jeep to last for a couple years, how long do the four cylinders normally last for? the jeep is in very nice condition and has bin taken care of by the owner.

as far as price, it depends on what other jeeps in your area are going for. around here(IN) that would be a decent price. however, have you test driven it yet? when I was looking to get a jeep, I test drove a couple that had the 4 cylinder, and oversized tires, and if the axle gears have not been changed, I can tell you that it's not going to have any power at all.

Yeah, scoutinkeith's right, check the axle ratio. I had the 2.5 L with 4.11 gears and 235/75 15's, and it was a dog. With the larger tires, that would greatly effect the driveability. Check out this website for tire comparison:

The 4.11 gears originally came with 205/75 15's, IIRC.

As far as the 2.5 L, it's supposed to be pretty bulletproof and long lasting. Just not a lot of power.

hey, thanks for all the help out there. i have test drove it and the gear ratio has bin changed. i was actully surprised for being a 4 cylinder it had alot more power then i thought, it has a cold air intake and other mods that help give a lil more power! any other info would be great thanks again!
