Mysterious Caution Light in 2001 Ford Taurus

A few weeks ago, I was driving on a country road and a caution light came on my dash right below where it shows the RPM's that I am using. I couldn't tell what type of light it was. It looked like from what I could tell, a light the check to make sure the gas cap was on. I stopped the car and checked the gas cap and it was on like it should. About 5 minutes later, the light went out and it hasn't been on since.

Does anyone know what this light might have been for? Again, it was right below where the panel shows how many RPM's I am using.

it may have been just that, a light for the gas cap.some newer fords have them.check your manual to make sure.
