Fuel guage question

I sent a message a few weeks ago about my fuel guage that hasn't worked in my 2001 Ford Taurus for the past two years. Sometimes it works and other times it reads a full tank of gas when their only might be a fourth of a tank. The check engine light has been on ever since the problem and the code for the problem is "PO 460 Fuel Level Sensor Circuit A Malfunction."

On to my question, someone who replied to my last message sent me a pdf file for fixing that type of problem for a 2002 Taurus. After reading it, one of the directions was to observe the fuel guage reading and access Fuel Level Input (FLI) PID.

How do you access the Fuel Level Input (FLI) PID?

Also, if anyone else has any suggestions on what the problem is or how to fix it? I am all ears.

The FLI PID is accessed by a scan tool that can read the parameters of the sensors. It is possible there is a connection that is loose or a wire that is shorting to another one occasionally. Or it may be the sending unit in the tank causing the problem.
