Time wise and money wise, would ordering a SR20DEt be better or just buying a front clip and taking parts off of that and putting it into a 91 240sx hatch???

Do you even know the difference between a motorset and a frontclip?

pretty much...front clips come with everything needed for the swap...motorsets are just the motors, and you'll have to pick up a few random parts in your quest to put the sr in

personally i would just let the shop do the the sr20 swap. here's why...

when you order the front clip sure you have a full layout of what the engine will look when you drop it in, but a clip means you have another engine you hafta yank out which is time consuming. also when your done you have a completly useless clip sitting around that you dont want.

one thing to do though...if your going to order an sr DONT USE EBAY!!! usually the packages they send have parts missing that you have to trace back to japan (a lot of places close by have parts around that you can order though.)

this is what i reccomend

http://www.heavythrottle.com/

theyre located somewhere in new york so you dont hafta do it yourself. plus your gaurenteed that the engine will start when theyre done. check it out

you say that taking the motor out of the clip is time consuming? i know i can yank my motor in 4 hours...whats so time consuming about that? but then again...that is something people do forget about...if you do get a clip, then you do have an entire front end laying around that nobody will take. Assad clips dont come with bumpers...usually just dash and the actual part the struts and the radiator support. and no we cant locate parts from a junk yard here...remember we dont have sr20s just laying around here in the US..

awww ok i thought a clip was just like a half cut and since its not like australia (over here we can go down the road and have a wide selection of ca18de's, ca18det's, sr20de's, and sr20det's i would suggest go with the clip.

a clip is the area in front of the A pillar. thats it
yeah it sucks that parts r just a junkyard away for u aussies, but more places here have sr parts always lying around (i dont know about the CA18 though)

front clip all the way if you dont get a clip you will end up spending more time looking for all the extra parts then it will take for you to yank the engine out and then dispose of the clip

hmmm...thanks for the input i'm still not sure though, because the complete swap kit on heavythrottle is like about 5000 and i found a front clip that retails for around that much too...also couldn't i use the jdm headlights and put'em on the 240sx?

99% they wont give you any cool stuff like headlights, bumpers, etc.

no way a front clip for 5k thats not right. and most places wont give you the lights and fenders ect ect. but you should be able to find the clip fior about 3k at least
