what is a good sounding and performing exhaust system for the 3G V6 (headers,cat,muffler)... thanks

Im pretty sure that DC Sport makes V6 headers for our cars, they can be kinda tricky to find. I made a Cat delete pipe with some 2.5" stainless, and welded in an O2 delete sensor. There are a couple cat back systems that are good, but I hear nothing but good things about the Greddy EvoII.

i would go with the RPW headers, leave the cat alone, and go with the GReddy Evo II exhaust.

the car should be turbo'd by summer... is the cat still fine?

you shouldn't get headers then if its going to be turboed.
yes the cat would still be fine.

Yeah, it might just smell like rotten eggs when you get on it, and be a little less aggressive sound.

If you're going turbo next summer why not just get the Apex'i N1 for a 95-99 Eclipse GST. Its a full 3" catback that will bolt up with a few modifications such as moving an exhaust hanger or two and I think either cutting or lengthining the pipe right before it bolts to the cat. You might lose a little torque now but you will gain more when you go turbo and this way you wouldn't have to switch to a 3" catback later. I have this on my car right now and it sounds fucking sweet, better than my Evo2 did.

Ok this maybe a stupid question but why wouldn't you want to put headers on your car if you are planning on turboing it????

because, w/ turbo kits for this car, it requires the factory cali-spec exhaust manifold / header to mount up the turbo, the aftermarket headers will not provide the amount of flow needed for turbo nor will aftermarket headers hold up well to boost if you decide to make it work anyways
the exhaust manifold/header you already have is plenty sufficient for turbo, anything else will not work as well

Ok so what If I have a Fed Spec Eclipse will I need to get a Cali Spec exhaust manifold for the turbo to work properly?????

You can either have a set of custom piping made up for you like I did (expensive). Or I'm sure you can get the cali piping re-worked to fit. All I would imagine that would need to be done is either lengthining or shortening of some piping, modifying the O2 bungs to suit your need, and maybe some rewelding of flanges.

i think that even the headers on the fed specs are mounted slightly differently, so i have not a clue, maybe a custom cali-spec manifold w/ fed spec fittings on the engine side
but yeah, all kits made for the GT eclipses are designed around the cali spec version since that is what most people have, kinda sux i kno
i think maybe tearstone had a fed-spec piping setup, but it didnt' pertain to me...so i didn't care  you might double check though

well, the first part is correct. the reason you would not get headers for this car when going turbo is because all of the kits are designed with the cali factory headers.
and aftermarket header will flow enough exhaust for a turbo, it will actually flow way more than the stock cali header.
whether an aftermarket header will hold up to boost, that would depend on the design and welds.
from my understanding, the fed spec and cali spec manifolds are interchangable. ive never heard of any modifications needed to make either fit. except for the extra o2 bungs.

has anyone else noticed that when u have a turob it replaces the headers so u wont have the header anyway just an exhaust manifold conected to your turbo conected to a downpipe

exhaust manifold=header
y-pipe=downpipe
turbos do not replace headers, 2g guys have tubular turbo headers available to them that are exhaust manifolds
different terms if your boosted or not or by the automotive enthusiast's preferance
like i said though i'm not entirely sure on the fed-spec eclipses, i'll try to find someone w/ one and double check but i read somewhere that something was mounted at a dif. angle making it more difficult to just switch from cali to fed spec
